Default Hey guys

Hey guys I've been along time member over at LS1Tech with my 98 T/A WS6. Well it's finally paid off and I am soon to be in the market for a C5 Z06! I will be taking the winter to look for the perfect one and be purchasing next spring. I just wanted to introduce myself to the forums as I will more than likely become a pretty active member here in the next few months. Looks like there is quite a bit to learn here before investing into a vette. I will openly welcome any advice that you guys can give!

Thanks,

Drew

Hey, Drew. Welcome to the forum. You're right - this place has a lot to offer. I've got some Word files that may help you in your search for a C5. PM me your e-mail address and I'd be glad to send them to you.

Also, would you guys have any reservations with buying an 01 Z06 if I was going to be swapping out heads/cam anyways? I heard something about excessive oil consumption with the pre 02's

Welcme to the Forum....I lurked around here for half a year before buying my C5, and learned a LOT about what to look for and what to avoid. Take your time, find the RIGHT car and you'll have a lot of fun. There can be a some real frustrating electrical issues with C5 Vettes, especially as they are now getting older, but the people here have plenty of diagnostics and step-by-step repair help to offer..This forum has made the owning of my Vette MUCH more affordable, in that there is SO MUCH knowledge and help available. These are great cars to drive, even as daily driver/grocery getter as mine is for me. They LOOK GOOD, go like stink, HANDLE WELL, and are reasonably reliable and very affordable.

I am sometimes frustrated by the cheap GM/chevy parts in my Vette, but I LOVE it's Corvette heart.

Welcome to the Forum!

Jennifer

I can only assume you picked 98 redbird because of your 1998 red Fire Bird. I picked red99bird because of my {then} 1999 red fire bird TA.
Small world.. You won't be sorry for going the corvette route. I have a 2002 silver coupe & a 1978 Pace Car with 11,198 miles. Love my Corvettes.

I would go with an 02 just for the extra HP. 385 vs 405. But if you are swapping out the heads and cam, that probably doesn't apply to you.

Oh, welcome to the forum!
