Here's what I think is the best option and the coolest. And if you don't like the removable glass top you can just put the Z06 roof on. I scooped the pics from the Corvette Forum but can't remember who's car it is.

That is a cool idea, and now you have both a vert and a coupe if you want. How much for one of those tops?

/\ GB Vette did that to his vert but he didn't buy the top that way he took a FRC top, cut in the targa and now he can go topless, top on with targ off or top on with targa on. That man has crazy skillz

As the politicians said"let me make this perfectly clear",,,the earlier post were brief and could Possibly confuse you just a tiny bit. They are referring to aftermarket clamp on (using the convertible latching mechanism) The look is quite similar to the FRC! A true Coupe to FRC has been done here by a member(forgot his screen name) and he also did the reverse on the trans ,,auto to stick! To sum up,,,simplest solution aftermarket hard top for a vert. second ,,convert FRC or Z06 to auto,,and last convert a coupe to hard top. This is the order of complication and expense!! Have fun!! Let us know what you do. Post a thread asking for pics of verts with aftermarket hard tops ,,I'm sure you'll get responses!!
^^The member is AJG1915. He is my brother and he has crazy$$$ in his project with more to come!! Not the kind of project for the faint of heart.

Basic Shifting:
Basic shifting is simple: just hit the shift buttons or paddles, press the clutch pedal, and the MasterShift™ Manual Shifter will push or pull the shift cables to place the shift shaft in the requested position, as you would have done manually before you had it. It is also possible to “stack” multiple shifts by pressing the paddle or button several times before pressing the clutch pedal. The Manual Shifter will then move straight to the requested target gear position.

FYI: The Corvette Black book lists FRC's as all having manual trans in 1999 (4031 built) and 2000 (2090 built). From 2001 on the FRC's were all ZO6's.
Good luck on getting what you want.

I thank everyone for responding. Great advise. I never thought about getting convertable and turning it to Z look. I don't care for targa. I am already naturally tanned so no need to get darker. And I hate the sun on my face. Even when I went and bought the C6 I had the guy switch tops with me so I don't have the glass roof. But I will check out those links you all put to help me out. Does anyone know though approx cost to convert Z06 to Auto? If its around 3-4k with parts and labor I will probably go that route.

Converting to a manual to an auto is a lot cheaper than trying to convert either a coupe or a vert into a FRC.
Take it from a guy that has done both.

Ah Prices. Lucky for me I'm handy with wrench.
Tranny Conversion - Price is dependent on what you go with. With Stock parts would have been around $4K to do the job plus any recovery from the sale of the old parts.
Textralia Twin - $1,500
Z06 TT - $700
C6 Z06 Shifter $200
Shift Boot $75
Bell Housing $125
Pedal Assy $200
Tranny Wiring Harness $350
MN6 TRanny + RPM Stage 5 upgrage w/9310 mainshaft $5,000
DTE 3.42 Stage 4/5 Rear w/brace $4,150.
Master & Slave + Pilot Bushing = $300.
Miscellaneous wiring, switches, pins and connectors $200
Re-tune of PCM by DR Phil Priceless
Labor = Free (me and my bro)
Body Conversion to FRC
2000 FRC rear clip $4,000
Various Moldings and hardware $1,500
Upper Rear Tub $250.
Most of the labor to do the conversion was performed by me. I then dropped the car off at ACP for them to glue on the new upper tub and fit all of the body panel and paint.
I was in midst of getting a wide body kit from ACP on my car when I decided to convert my car over to a FRC (Hardtop).
You would still have a heafty price to pay for a repaint job. If you plan on re-painting your car then it's not really a big factor.
Labor = (me and my bro) + ACP for widebody installation and paint.
I really have to thank Kerry the owner of ACP for working with me through all of this and Carter who is an awesome body guy.
Price = More than it cost to buy a FRC
It wasn't my plan in the beginning to go where I am now. Things kind of evolved and I just dug in deep for the long haul. I've made a lot of friends on the forum through my endevours and that's the best part of it all.
A couple of pictures.

I love Zs however with the great weather here a removable top or vert is a necessity. Too much wind noise with the vert so Coupe was the way to go.
I like the ZO6 rear ducts so I put them on. No badges or anything else. So how does this make me a posser or wannabe?
Got H/C, LTs, and blower and a bunch of other stuff. And yes an A4.
57 years old, just had a full hip replacement so forgive me if I'm not man enough to row the gears.
It seems to me 90% or ZO6ers believe their Vettes are faster and better then anything on the road no matter what the other car is. Must be sniffing the badges.

A friend of mine converted his 00 vert into a targa top / frc/ vert. I believe he spent just under $5000 after parts, shipping, paint and bonding. We did a lot of the work in my arage but it was still expensive. He has now traded this car for a GTO so it is for sale somewhere and it is an automatic.
