Default Where can I get the FRC Z06 look?

Here's the scoop. Had C5 coupe auto. Went to C6 and sold that and currently looking to go back to C5. Hate stick shift but like the look of the FRC and Z06 better. Question is does anyone here know where or approx cost of converting the rear trunk to make it look like the Z and FRC? First choice is auto but if price is way high then I will just settle for stick and later on convert it to Auto. Not looking to turn this into "a real sports car is stick" debate. Had stick for 6yrs and vowed I will never go back to it. Anyways any ideas on cost for the trunk/window conversion? Thanks.

If I read this right, you do not have a C5 right now. If so, IMO your best bet would be to just buy an FRC/Z06 and then see about converting to an automatic.

Your best shot is to get a vert and get a hardtop for it

What a loaded question. There's a few ways to attack this situation. I think the easiest and most cost-effective way would would be to get the convertible, since the trunk is already in place, and source a hardtop. Then remove the convertible top etc.

The way I read it you don't have a C5 yet, you're looking for one and assuming (wrongly) that all FRC's were Sticks. Go buy a 1997-2000 FRC automatic trans car and you'll be all done.. no need for the conversion of any sorts. Don't go looking for an automatic Z06, though.

There isn't such thing as an FRC with an automatic - they were all equipped with MN6 from the factory.. and FRCs were made in 1999 and 2000 only.

Here is an option that has not been mentioned by anyone.

Turn your manual into a paddle-shifted car.

http://www.streetlegaltv.com/forum/m...r-kit-386.html

A lot less expensive than other options mentioned.

As the politicians said"let me make this perfectly clear",,,the earlier post were brief and could Possibly confuse you just a tiny bit. They are referring to aftermarket clamp on (using the convertible latching mechanism) The look is quite similar to the FRC! A true Coupe to FRC has been done here by a member(forgot his screen name) and he also did the reverse on the trans ,,auto to stick! To sum up,,,simplest solution aftermarket hard top for a vert. second ,,convert FRC or Z06 to auto,,and last convert a coupe to hard top. This is the order of complication and expense!! Have fun!! Let us know what you do. Post a thread asking for pics of verts with aftermarket hard tops ,,I'm sure you'll get responses!!

Does it still require the use of the clutch? I believe that is why most want autos, because of the clutch.

Uh, the FRC design did not come out until 1999 and they were all offered exclusively with the 6 speeds.

Buy a Vert and put the FRC roof section on it. The cars have the same trunk lid and tub.

Ouch. Who posted the wrong info again?

I'm with everyone else that mentioned the vert + hardtop idea.

Verts cost more then you gotta spend more on a hardtop FRC/ZO6 Manual to Auto switch will cost at least $3K if you get a good deal on the parts.

Just buy an A4 Coupe. You can still take the top off. Then spend the money saved on performance mods.

Then you won't be 'that guy' who couldn't handle a real z06 and had to have the look alike.
