I could get loan value for enough higher than the asking price to pay off some bills which the total monthly payments add up to about the same as the cost of the loan on the car. I'd rather find a red one with less miles and the same deal but that doesnt seem possible.
I bought my vette with 124k miles on it November 20th of last year - since then it's been out of commission 3 times (a week at a time). 2 Starters, countless electrical issues we cannot figure out, AC problems that can't be fixed with just a new compressor or a charge, column locked up and had to order the CLB, and now whenever I start my car I get 'pull key, wait 10 sec' and it WILL NOT go away for anything - tranny is on it's way out and will need to be replaced before the end of the year. My ABS and Traction control is also going out, as well as a flaky gas gauge.
I've put right at about 25k miles since I bought it......
It's a lot of miles that you have no idea how it was driven. Unless the price is that low that you cannot pass it up then take it. But the money saved will all go in repairs so really you're no further ahead. If you have plans to modify the car anyways then it might be a good buy. Tough call without seeing any pictures.

I wonder if the previous owner of this one has already done all that.
156,000= donate to the US corvette museum or put an garage to look at.
but ya man id find one with less then 100,000 on it
only way id buy that is if its going for 5,000 or less or it had an complete overhaul and you have documentation of this
Right now, especially this time of year, there are a lot of nice, lower mile cars out there priced right. If you are on a low budget and have to have a C5, take whatever you think it's worth, and go about $3000 lower for repairs and maintenance.
