After reading many different threads on the choice of exhaust, I have now come to two, of the following types.
BORLA STINGERS vs. GHL BULLETS
I have no opportunity to hear the different types of exhaust, because we do not have many C5 here in Denmark, therefore I will let the majority/you decide this for me.
I have LT headers, Bassani X pipe and Borla Stingers and I LOVE the way my car sounds! I have a friend on here that has GHLs on his with full exhaust and it sounds badass too. Guess its going to be a hard decision.
My stingers are awesome, but I need to do the exhaust pipe spring fix, because when I let my foot off the gas, the springs holding up the pipes underneath are rattling up a storm, even as the pipes pop nice and loud!
Although you do not have one of these exhausts, you might have heard them and I need your opinion.
It must be said, that I personally think, that this Mercedes has a very nice sound. It might help you to give me an answer as to which of the two, I have to choose.
GHLs, without a doubt. No drone and very deep and powerful sound. They are also tuned to quiet down at cruise. At WOT they roar. You will absolutely love them! The best of all worlds.

I love the sound of my GHL Bullets. Plus, everyone who sees them and really takes a close look up under the car also are very complimentary on the appearance and quality of the highly polished stainless steel system. The GHLs make me

I have cam/headers and when I had just the TI system no one really noticed. I went to GHL Bullets and now I'm the guy in "that loud blue car."
Mine's a daily driver and I should note that it really quiets down when cruising. I have a slight drone at around 1500-1900 rpms at highway speeds, but since mine is a stick I just change gears. Even that drone, however, is minimal compared to the borlas. The borlas sound great, just too much for my car.
I put Borla Stingers on a stock 6-speed 2001 system and they sounded great. Later I upgraded my stock system to American Racing headers, Xpipe, and Hi Flow cats, then reinstalled the Borlas. The drone was unbearable. I ended up replacing the Borlas with GHL Motorsports, no more drone and sounding great again.
If you plan to keep your stock system the Borlas will be fine, in fact I sold mine to a fellow club member with a 2002 automatic stock system and they sound great on his car.
If you plan on adding headers in the future (American Racing in particular), you may want to rethink the Borlas and start right out with something like the GHL's.
I made my purchase based on the fact that I wanted my exhaust loud. My vet is not a daily driver so when I did take it out I wanted it to be as much fun as possible. What I did not take into consideration when installing my Borla Stingers was the drone...and there is alot. I am not saying I would replace them. Not at this point at least. But, study up on drone and see if it is something you can live with or something you should do without.
If you have pup cats, any drone with the Borlas is virtually nonexistent. I've heard just about every type of exhaust system on a C5 during Dyno Day events and I noticed right away that the biggest difference among the many types is at idle and mid-range. Under these conditions, few come close to the Borla Mid-sixties sound with Magnaflow being somewhat close. At WOT, many systems sound great, but after having a 68 with Doug Thorley headers and super-turbo mufflers for so many years, I felt the Borla Stingers come closest to that sound. After many years and tens of thousands of miles, I'm glad I went with my Stingers.
