Did something today that I had never done before, took the '04 to the dealer for an oil change. Had always done them myself before. But just this one time...... and all went well. Was only $51 which is not much more that it would have cost me to do it. May keep going to the dealer since it is only a once a year happening.

That's a good price for an oil change from a dealer - just hope they put in Mobil 1 Synthetic. I had mine done a couple of times at the dealer - $55 was what they charged.
$51 DAMMM Thats like the price of the oil and Filter just to buy them..And the dealer did this?..maybe they just left the old stuff in your motor..You never know.
or they might have just flushed your oil out..But never put oil back in it yet?..have you tried to start it..$51 motor flush or just plane crap oil went in..I would have to check it out good..
Syn oil wholesale @ $6 per qt x 7 qts = $42
Filter wholesale @ $3
Labor @ $60 per hour
If you were there more than 6 minutes you just might have been taken. Just doesn't add up.
Dealers love to do oil changes. Very profitable. Average Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevy dealer will do a "regular" for about $29.95 on a special. Still they are putting cheap bulk oil in with a bargain filter. Takes them about 15 minutes and they will do everything to sell you other maintenance. I'm not a dealer but a customer and that has been my experience.
I always do my own oil changes now. Use Amsoil and Wix filters. Put a FilterMAG on the filter and go 30,000 miles with no worries. (I do change the filter at 15K and top off oil.)
I understand from the forum That You are the man when it comes to 73 emisson system diagrams. I recently replaced the headlight hoses and filters and discovered ( I Think) that the emission control hoses are stuck anywhere and everywhere. I am wondering if you can help me. I am not sure which parts are needed and where they would go, if they are even there.

For a while we lived in a rental house and all of my shop equipment was in storage 15 miles away.
My dealers service manager charged me only $11 labor to change oil and filter. I provided the materials but drank their fresh coffee, ate a fresh muffin and read their newest edition of MOTOR TREND, which the manager let me take home. Oh yeah, they disposed of the waste oil and filter. I stood ten feet away in the service bay and watched them do everything.
If you develop a friendly relationship with the dealership (instead of adversarial), they have been known to do such things because the service department is what keeps customers coming back for repeat business.

Just had mine changed last week - had the same experience $11, I furnish the Mobil 1 & filter....and, like you, watched the whole process.
