Default Air/fuel Question

Hey guys,

So I have noticed that if I am in first gear and left off the clutch the car won't stall. I mean it will go down to around 6 or 7 mph but it will just stay at that speed like I have an automatic but I don't. I also notice that while holding it a constant speeds the seems to surge quite a bit..like it wants to go but can't. I did recently get a tune so I am thinking it is an air/fuel issue but just wonderin what you guys think. the car is an 03 Z with longtubes and no cats.
thanks guys!!

The fact that the car won't stall when you let off the clutch is a by product of have probably 370 ft-lb of tq. YOu can actaully go through most of the gears that way and eventually end up coasting at like 20 mph. I had mine tuned and it does not surge. You might need to ask the tuner about it. do you have an aftermarket intake?

The tune should still have helped the surging but a lot of the time if the previous owner, or you, cut the shroud under the air intake filter, that will cause surging. Just me....i know from experience. Plugged the hole back up and no more surging.

probably a throttle control issue in the tune, or air getting in after the maf. what's your idle rpm?

If you cut something you would know, but , you also need to check to make sure that there is not a pucker where the intake joins the throttle body.

Sorry if I sound dumb but what do you mean by pucker? I went out and made sure that everything was tightened down.

Check for air leaks around the MAF and filter. And you can warp the
air bridge if you over tighten the clamp.

By pucker I mean that sometimes when these things get put on, the intake does not completely join with the ( i said throttle body), MAF sensor, and it leaves a small fold in the coupler. This lets unmetered air into the throttle body and can cause surging. Most of the time it happens underneath the connection where you can't see at all.

I am thinking that there maybe something going on with that air injection hose..does anybody know exactly what that hose attaches to?
