Default "Special" Pricing???

I was curious as to wether or not it would be in bad taste or against some "forum" rule to comment on a lot of this "Special" pricing I see placed on this site??? There are many "deals" that are just that very good "deals". Those are few and far between!! Far to often I see a thread for some special group buy or forum offered pricing that, when researched, is no bargain what so ever. I see "package" deals that have you spending thousands of dollars only to save $50.00 on shipping....! I for one own a corvette but do not have tons of disposable cash to throw at the many mods that I long for! With the economy in the shape that it is, I would suspect that mod sales are down and we would see some true "super deals" offered. I will have to say that there have been some realy good buys advertised on this forum...but by the same token there are many "special" pricing offers that are no better than pricing that has been available forever on the open market. Ok I am done.....Sound off what you think!!

too

But, I think I read somewhere that the forum rules say that if it's a post by a "supporting vendor" that your post cannot interfere with their sale... And, I think telling everyone that it's not really a deal would count as interference...

Hopefully a Mod will step in and post something official.

I agree with what you are saying, but you won't be allowed to comment on specific threads.
With the economy in the shape it's in, the still standing retailers should wake up and make any and all concessions possible, before it's too late.
I have no disposable income right now, so it doesn't matter in my case.

Default "Special Pricing???

I was thinking that there would be some sort of rule governing this that is why I was not specific to any particular offer. I have had my vette (my second one) for about a year and ahalf now and there is a particular exterior mod that I really like...I priced it a year and a half ago and I see weekly if not almost daily threads on here with "special" pricing for this item and it is the same price it's been for almost two years! Gets a little frustrating and I would think with the number of players involved and the increasing number of us vette lovers buying these mods, that pricing would be a little more favorable to us loyel lovers of this remarkable car!

Close, but no cigar!

Here's the rule on interference in a For Sale thread and it applies to anybody's for sale thread, not just supporting vendors:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/foru...le-thread.html

If the deal doesn't sound like it's much of a deal, just move on.

Not to be an A$$...

If you have never owned a business before you wouldn't understand....

Retailers are in the recession mode as well.....and I think that with the included overhead it may in fact be worse for them...

I own my own business....and I know I pay tax on everything....I mean I get hammered every year....

In fiscal 07 my company purchased a little over $35000.00 in fuel alone to run our trucks !!

Retailers are subject to fuel costs...labour costs...and anything up the "ying-yang" costs.....

So when you're looking for a deal please realize that retailers have mouths at home to feed as well...

Anyway take it with a grain of salt.....I'm just a small pea in the pod like you....but I must say...I absolutely hate being dickered with on price....hate it.....if you don't like the price that is posted then it is just best to move on and try to find another deal...

Enough ranting ....just my $.02.

Bubba.

I completely agree with everybody...the only time I would choose to "interfere" is if you believe a deal is really a scam and for that you would not post in the thread but would report it to a mod to investigate.

We have a choice to either buy the items or not. I for one enjoy this forum, and before I look else where I browse their shops first. I don't mind if they make a few extra dollars. I'm paying for customer service, and on this forum we have a lot of great vendors willing to assist you, even far after the initial purchase. If you want a deal, try Ebay or Craigslist.

Default A good deal is not always what you see.........

Ok three times I have made comments on either a F/S post or "special pricing" offer post. First time the Moderator slapped my hand and I plead ignorant, promising I would never do that again ( and I understand the reasoning).

The one time , the original poster asked if anyone could find a 'better deal'. The last time a supporting vendor also asked for comments . So other than that I have no comment but to say that I have got several , what I consider really good deals from group buys or special offers.

One thing is important to comment on is that the service after the sale is that unseen and sometimes not appreciated part of the purchase. I say not appreciated till you make a deal with some outside the forum vendor and recieve your item which is not at all what you thought it was or not as described. That is when , in my experiences the forum vendors step up to the plate. The few dollars you think you saved is not worth anything if that part is worthless to use.

So I have to say thanks to the supporting vendors and also to all of the forum members that I've bought from ( a lot of them) and never had a problem one.

From my own experience, I've had great results from dealing with the Forum Vendors.
Not only were the prices reasonable, but the shipment of the products were faster than mail order catalogues that specialize in Corvettes.
Even if a vendor doesn't have the item in question. They weren't beyond pointing me in the right direction (Thanks again Chip).

HUM.. the only thing that comes to mind is one of P.T Barnum's famous phrases.

As my Dad always told me - If there is a deal today, there will be a deal tomorrow.... it's true

A lot of good points being made...

But also: the fact that vendor XYZ is offering a special price, should never negate the need to shop around. If vendor XYZ is generally priced higher, and then releases a "sale" at which his prices are the same as everyone else... well, for vendor XYZ it IS a sale. maybe he has more expensive suppliers. There's a lot of variables, that I'll never know the nuances of for each particular vendor vying for my dollars.

I never assume that anybody running a special, automatically has the best price.

I agree with everyone.

Now which supporting vendor wants to give me a gift certificate or free mod for being so supportive of the vendors?
