Ok going Im to make this simple. Insurance put the money down on my new house and i thank them for that but I am going to repair this myself. Used to do lacquer paint back in the 80's and my only concern is getting the paint right. What is new in the paint industry or should I pay to get the parts painted in a booth.

Reason: Wrong Year
You can do it well if you use color and clear with a HVLP gun. The main thing is to buy good paint (Red is expensive) and take your time.
Make sure that the temperature is right and the prep work is done. If you can remove the parts it is much simpler to not get overspray.
Best of luck but be aware that if you order parts for a 2005 C5, you may get a few confused responses since the 2005 model is a C6. You probably meant 2004, no?

Best of luck in your repair project. [/QUOTE]
I am a dumb one it is a 2002 C5. Thanks for the info and the embarassment of the mistake. Lets see if I can fix that if I cant I better just bring the car into the shop.
First things first if the pic shown is your car it appears to be mag red and this is not paint but a 3 stage process not easily accomplished. You apply a base coat followed by tinted clears and ultimately final clear coat.I have this same color and it was a beast to match and blend. There is also several codes within the paint code based on date and material used at the factory. If you can afford it have a good shop paint your parts and ease the stress from your day.I am getting ready to do the nose of mine soon as it is getting its share of road damage. Good luck.
Base Coat Clear and Clear Coats MATCHING? Problly not when I get done with it.

NOW WE ARE TALKING. That is the easiest way to go. I have a decent painter too. He actually owes me. Removing and Bolting up new parts are simple. i was actually thinking about ACI front fiberglass cover to make it straight. I had their custome American Custom Industries Parts on my 75 vette and the fit really nice and I never had a problem with them. Was thinking that insted of the plastic cover.
Thanks for the input.
