Default Tire sensor question

This morning around 36 degrees in NJ I take vette to go to bus lot. Both front tires are saying low oressure. Since I have not checked them in around two months I stop at the Hess station and put 30 lbs in all four tires. The DIC is still saying that front tires are low. Lot is 3 miles from house. What does anyone thing....batteries? If so....how do you replace them or where should I go to have it done....Dealer....Goodyear?

I would say the batteries are OK if the system is telling you that you have low pressure. I would check the pressure with a good gauge and make sure they're up to 30 (cold). If it were batteries I would expect the error to be that the sensors are not communicating

You have to reset the sensors I believe.

The batteries should last longer than this, and it would be strange to have two go prematurely at the exact same time.
Your tires could easily have been low enough to trigger the warning, but obviously proper inflation should take care of it. Did you drive the car for a while and still have the warning? It shouldn't matter, but did you shut the car off and still have the warning after starting again?
The sensors for an 04 are cheaper, but need to be changed by a competent tire shop.
Good luck.

I assume you mean press reset on the console to clear the message from the DIC

there must of been a ADH PERSON WHO PUT MY TIRE SENSORS IN, AS THEY ARE IN THE WRONG LOCATIONS...LEFT IS RIGHT IF HAD ME GOING CRAZY FORST TIME I DID A TIRE INFLATION, TELLING ME THE LEFT FRONT WAS OVER INFLATED WHEN IT WAS REALLY THE RIGHT FRONT! I GUESS IT WILL HAVE TO STAY THAT WAY TILL I BUY NEW TIRES IN A COUPLE YEARS, I DON'T THINK I SHOULD ROTATE? ANY OPINIONS?

Mine do that when it's cold, but when it warms up a little they're fine.

There is no particular location for the sensors, they are all the same, if you get new tires put on and they don't put them on the same wheel you will have that problem, you just have to do a relearn on the sensors. You will need a magnet to do it. Do a search to get the proceedure.

It should be fine after driving it for 6-7 miles at hwy speeds. I put new sensors in about a year ago and it takes them longer than the stock GM ones to start working. We have had 35 degree changes in temp. overnight here the last week. I get at least one and sometimes all four low tire pressure warnings in the mornings. I know I am running about 28 cold and will bring it back up to 30 at my next trip to get gas. I wouldn't spend any money on anything until I drove it 10 miles on the hwy to see if I really had a problem. Three miles is not enough to warm the tires up.

To train the sensors, you need a strong (preferably u-shaped or circular) magnet. Some people have gotten them from Radio Shack, Home Depot, etc. An old speaker magnet will often work. These can be obtained from car stereo installation places from the factory speakers they replace.

1. Turn the key to ON (don’t start the car).
2. Press the DIC RESET button to clear any warning messages, if they are present.
3. Press the OPTIONS button and cycle through the menu until the display goes blank.
4. Press and hold the RESET button until FOB TRAINING appears on the display.
5. Press the OPTIONS button once and the TIRE TRAINING message should appear.
6. Press the RESET button once, and the LEARN LEFT FRONT TIRE message appears.
7. Hold a magnet over the valve stem on the left front wheel. You may have to move it around the valve step to hit the right spot.
8. When the horn beeps (about 5 seconds later), programming is complete for that wheel.
9. Program the other three wheel sensors as directed by the DIC message display. The sequence is as follows: Left front, right front, right rear,

When they're cold (mornings) I get low tire pressure warnings. Never a problem in the afternoon when I leave work (75-80 degrees) I know they're dying (8 yrs. old) so I'm replacing them next week, along with new tires.

MY TP sensors are going on 10 years now....just a matter of time, I'm sure.

1. tire psi drops about 1 pound for every 10 degree temperature drop.

What is the actual tire pressure????

2. It is possible you are nearing the end of the battery life.
Power in a battery is directional with temperature. The lower the temperature the lower the power output. IT they are weak then it is possbile at low ambinet tmeperature they power output is too low.

Sounds as tho some of you should try to reprogram them and I would think you should be good to go after that.

03 Electron Blue should reprogram to get the right positions conifgured - for all the others that I see in this post it looks like they're victoms of losing pressure as temps drop - they just need to keep on top of their tire pressure. This happens every fall, followed by high pressure problems in the spring as temps (and tire pressures) increase

Again, if your batteries are going south the error most commonly posted is that the sensors are not communicating - not that your pressure is low.
