Default Differences between '00 and '01 C5 Coupe M6

I was just wondering if there is any differences (performance wise) between a '00 and '01 or '02 Coupes. These are the years available to me with my budget and wanted some feedback. I know that newer is better...but I could get a '00 and have money for mods rather than an '02 and do nothing. Thanks for your .02 cents.

Not much. The 01 and up have 5 more HP and like 10 more torque. And the 01 and up have numberous little improvements inside and out as well. Look at this site for info.

http://www.corvettemuseum.com/specs/2001/overview.htm

And do a search on the forum.

Try here too. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1560810562-post8.html

If not getting a Z06, I'd try for a 2001 or newer. Many changes in 2001 as you'll see.

I was just addressing his "(performance wise)" question. I've never had the flutter problem myself, but they're out there. My answer wasn't a slam on anyone/any year, just sharing information.

From my searches I see some of the '01 models had oil consumption issues...was this a recall? Just wondering if I buy an '01 and find out it sucks oil, and hasn't been addressed, do the dealers take care of it?

No, it was not a recall. If the owner brought his car ito the dealership while it was in warranty and the results of a consumption tests showed excessive oil use, the dealership would replace the rings. Not all 01s use excessive oil, but it is almost guaranteed that if you do lots of high rpm, low load driving (like downshifting to 5000 rpm), your car's rings will flutter and allow oil to get by. My 01 uses approx 1 quart every 2500 miles - not excessive in my book or GMs.
