crooked exhaust question...help
Finally I had some time today and went back. I don't know exhaust systems, but I was thinking maybe it could be tack welded or something. Both the younger man and older gentleman were there. The older guy was rude telling me he "ain't fixin it again!" I'm usually a calm person and work in retail so I talked to them just trying to figure out what I could do to fix it. They said it needs a new $1000 exhaust. I admit I don't know exhaust that well, but I do believe crooked exhaust systems can be fixed without replacement. The older gentleman told me I should sell it and buy a Nissan or something. I would have thought the old guy was joking, but he wasn't. He was just being an ignorant business owner, not caring about his customers. He said it was from the exhaust tips hitting the ground on dips. I don't know about you guys, but that has never happened and there are no scratches on the tips indicating this either. I didn't want anything for free I'm willing to pay money, I just want my tips straight.
The younger guy was nicer and had me pull the car around and took a look at it. He said it looks like the clamp is bad. I'm not a professional, but the clamp on each tip looks exactly the same to me. He recommended not to tack weld and still was pushing for a full exhaust.
So that is my story, but in reality I guess I'm just asking what the best fix is for it. Can I do something to make the clamp hold it in place? Can the pipe before the clamp be bent up slightly? The current exhaust is a straight pipe set up. It shoots straight back after the cats, over the axle, and straight out the back.
The second thing is he said I have 2 1/4" pipes and that they should be 3". I know I have put 3" on my Camaro and Bronco, but they were single exhaust systems and this, obviously, is a dual exhaust all the way back. Do I need larger pipes?
Also I had asked them before about having dual tips installed on each side. He said it wouldn't work. I swear I've seen some car shows on tv where they cut pieces of pipe and weld them and can make the exhaust any which way.

2. Replace the clamps.
3. Have them torque the clamps to at least 40 lb/ft.
4. If that still doesn't hold buy an aftermarket exhaust system.
I can honestly say I have never seen an exhaust like yours before. Was it fabricated by an exhaust shop?
I loosened the clamps,(they werent teh typical clamp that you would find on a radiator hose) I moved the tips where I wanted them and tightened the clamp back down.
I would try and use a different style clamp. A clamp that will hold it where it wont move. Go to your local parts store, the clamp will look like a band clamp, and once tighened it will form to the exhaust itself with heat.
I agree with you, there is no need to buy another $1000 just to fix the tip from sagging.
I'm not sure if is this Borla system or if the previous owner had it built.
