Ive herad the C5 has the cables run already to install and simply plug in a cd changer. My question is does anyone have the diagram or describe where the cables are...?>
My 99 has the CD changer option. The CD changer was in the rear middle compartment on the front facing wall. Pull up the carpet there and see if any wires are hanging around. I took my changer out to attach an iPod hookup.
The C5 is NOT equipped with a harness unless it came with a CD as an option....However, the harness is easily installed if you dont have a CD changer and want to install one....All it takes is pulling up a few pieces of carpet and trim along the passenger side of the interior....The two plugs for the harness are in the passenger side footwell under the liftout panel....
I have found that the remote 12 disc CD changer harness came in some vehicles that never had the option filled. The FRC and Z06 never had the option so the wiring harness was never installed in those models ( I have three FRC and Z06 that I have installed the remote CD changer into).
If you have a harness it will be located as mentioned in the area of the center recess , on the outside verticle wall section ( facing the rear). As the CD changer is mounted vertically on this wall.
Your GM service manual shows the routing of the harness and the plug in at the passengers kick panel and foot well area.
