Put new MGW shifter in today. Not a hundred percent sold on it yet. I had the 08 Z06 shifter in for about a year now. Decided to see what all the fuss was about. It is very precise and a high quality piece. But the shifting effort is high. Only got to drive about thirty minutes today. To you guys who have the MGW shifter will it get easier to shift with a few miles on it? And are you satisfied with your decision to purchase the MGW?
I, too, am interested in this. I plan to switch to either the MGW or the C6 ZO6 shifter. Did not realize the MGW shifter required an effort that sounds similar to most after market shifters.
Yes Yes Yes.. Had mine for about 3 months now and it gets better every day. I also have the anti venom mod and royal purple went in two weeks ago. Each seemed to make a small improvement. The MGW is in a class by itself compared to the Hurst I took out. I can't count the number of times I went from 5th to 4th instead of 6th with that Hurst. Has never happened with the MGW. While it is stiff at first, it is precise and gets better the more you drive it. I have the 30%.

Gene,
If the effort is of concern to you, get the MGW 15% rather than the 30%. Longer throw, but less effort. I debated and listened to Georges advice but decided the 30% was better for my needs. If my wife were driving it often, I would have gone with the 15%.

I drove mine some more today and I think it will get better. Already like the 1-4 mainly just the 5-6 gate that seems a liitle harder than it should be. I will try the RP change out also. Thanks.
I would recomend the MGW,Kirban, or the C6 Z shifter as the best . If you want ease of shifting and slightly shorter throws than stock then the C6 Z shifter is your man. The MGW is probably the best there is but be prepared for some break in time and some effort. The Kirban is also a high quality piece. I have a Kirban that will probably put up for sale . PM me if you are interested.

Gene
Gene, I had the C6 Z shfiter in the car for about a year. It is really a nice compromise between the short throw( high effort) and the stock shifter (low precision long throws). I will keep mine just in case I want to go back to it. I am using the C6 handle on the new MGW. Good Luck
5-6 gate gets much easier over time, or maybe I just got use to it. Either way, I'm not regretting my decision to go with the MGW.
I will give it some time because I do like how precise it is. The 1-4 is great very smooth and no doubt whether you are in gear or not. Thanks for posting.
I put a zo6 c6 shifter in my c5 about 85% happy but after a while dont even notice a differnce
If you decide to change again I guarantee you will notice a difference. I have had several shifters in my car including the C6 Z which I just removed for MGW. The MGW is precise like a rifle bolt. Just the 5-6 gate is a pain in the arm.

I have to agree with the Hurst comments. I find myself missing the 5-6 shift alot. That's the design though. It centers for 3-4. It's a learning curve that once you train yourself you will do it the same way every time.
