Default Odometer Question

This is driving me crazy, possibly someone can help. During the last five years, at start up, the DIC displayed the Corvette message, then the mileage, then it would go blank automatically. Yesterday, at start up, same routine except after the opening message the mileage didn't disappear. Same thing this morning. I had to manually take it off. I read through the owners manual but couldn't find any reference on point. Any ideas?

Thanks.

After start up the DIC will go to last mode/screen it was on when you shut it down.

For Example: if you had it on gauges/coolant temp when you shut it down the next time you start it will do the do the Corvette welcome screen Odometer then go to coolant temp.

It scrolls through the "Welcome Message" and then back to the last mode you had selected.

I agree, during normal operation, the DIC is supposed to go back to the last setting you had displayed on the previous ignition cycle. However, sometimes when the voltage is low, it will not be able to retrieve the stored info on where you were last time. This has happened to me in the past when the battery was getting low or not holding a charge. Recently, my car has lost it's setting and starts up every time now with the odometer displayed. My battery doesn't seem to be low this time. I'm wondering if I'm having one of the dreaded grounding issues that C5s are plagued with.

Thanks for the feedback. The DIC always went back to the last setting. However, now it displays the mileage every time. The battery is fives years old, so it might be time to change it.
