What would be the best way to mount an iphone/ipod touch
somewhere on the dash that looks clean? I was thinking about modding the defroster vent so it fits right in there. It looks really cool up there, and u wouldnt have to take ur eyes off the road much with the navigation! Anyone have pics of some "clean" looking mount?

Here is mine. It is easy to take off if i want and i didnt have to drill any holes in anything. It is one of the best things i have done, i have over 2000 songs so i always have music availible that i want. I think i got it from proclips.com.

I use an adjustable cell phone holder from Radio Shack that plugs into the center AC vents above the radio. I also have the Ipod2Car cable so it recharges and plays thru the stock audio system. I like the location as it's at eye level and easy to work with. Here's a pic of it with my old iPod.
The cable on the dash was for a portable Nav unit, not the iPod.
I keep mine in the center console. Have the ipod 2 car cable plug ran into the center console and use the radio to control ipod functions. Keep it clean looking and no need for holders or stands to clutter up the interior appearance! Just an idea, it works well for me
BTW I keep my iPhone in my pocket and have a 30 gb iPod that always stays in the Vette. So I guess this wouldn't be ideal if you iPhone was always in the center console....
For the people that have iPod Touch and iPhones, do the iPod2Car cables charge the units? I have been reading conflicting stories on various forums.
Steve: It looks like you have an iPod Touch. Looking closely, it appears that I see a lightning bolt in your battery icon indicating that it is charging.
shaved down the thickness on the end using a polishing wheel and polishing compound. Heated the end with my heat gun then molded it to fit the console edge with my fingers.
Stuck the mate to the back of the iPod. This stuff really holds, no shake or twist when connected. You can easily use all the iPod controls while driving.

Yay or nay?
Both of my kenwoods with the ip500 adapters will charge my wifes touch first gen but will not charge the touch second gen or my 3g iphone. I love the fact the it mutes the stereo and plays my phone call through the stereo then resumes the song when I end the call!
I copied stingray71 and did it pretty much what he did but I took out the aux power in the center console (it unscrews). I don't know if the drive + okay works with the touch/iphone but the new version might. If you search you can see that the old version can be had for cheap right now ~ $20 and I think it is awesome.
If not peruse the rest of that thread and you might find some ideas in there.
