[Z06] C5Z06 vs BMW M5
There is this guy thats coming in to my friends restaurant that has a new 2008 BMW M5.
He claims he smokes C5 Z06's with no problems.
How do you guys think he would do in a race on the street or freeway against a C5 Z06?

M5 has 100 more hp but weighs 750 lbs more. STOCK VS STOCK its a drivers race with win going to driver who shifts flawlessly. I have no problems running away from em like they had a 4 cyl in them...LOL

I work for bmw and drive them all the time, but own a 03 Z06, so from first hand the Z gets all over the m5, from a launch till about 120mph then the m5 is gone, the v-10 just keeps pulling harder when the ls6 seems to be slowing a bit,, the m6 kicks the crap out of the Z in every way,
I tell you what will **** you off, a 40k dollar 135 coupe smokes the Z all around too

I think a race between M5 and C5Z06 would be a toss-up. And the M5 weighs 900 lbs more than a C5Z06
The 135 weighs more than a C5Z06 (by 250lbs) and the 135 has 100HP/100tq less than the C5Z06, so how can it smoke the Z?

yep I think these terds above would be surprised how fast a heavier/less HP car would run them, they are very fast in a straight line and the BMW trac control is MUCH better than the GM

Nope Id never be surprised....I may be a turd at times but a 100 hp less car weighing 300 lbs more aint gonna run the 1/4 faster nor have a better top end UNLESS the vette driver cant drive.. At the track they are running no better than mid to lower 13' if they got drag radials for the ones ive seen so far there. I'm sure if they catch you just right on a roll or off the line they will get the jump but it wont last long and not certainly with 1/4 mile times (My sons supercharged Cobalt would kick my azz off the line and to about 3/4's down the track when I was stock but I always ran him down before the end of the 1/4. So yea depending on what gear and such it can be a challenge but nothing to worry about for very long.

These really boggles logic a bit.
Are you sure you didn’t miss a shift or get caught in the wrong gear?
Because in other threads:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-z...-gear-c5z.html
people are claiming C5Z06s can run down Ferrari F360 Challenge Stradale and in this thread we can’t even beat a 135 with an exhaust. What the heck is going on?

for calling us all turds.

The one I was really disappointed with was the new M3's, they have a throaty v8 and claimed 414hp, but my dam near stock c5z left it in the dust, so not all is what it seems at bmw
my comments above are from driving all these cars, not only on public roads but at bmw's performance center track in SC, so I ran them pretty hard to see where the edge was.........all along I was compairing all to my personal C5z
I can lease any of these car for pennies on the dollar,
--but I choose to keep my C5Z--
NOT A GOOD BAROMETER OF PERFORMANCE.
A 125CC GO-CART WILL SMOKE MY ZO6 FOR A SECOND OR TWO.

BMW 135. Weighs about 3350 lbs, has a twin turbo inline-6cyl engine from the BMW 335.
Good to see you have compared them.
So the 135 is all over a C5Z06, but the new E92 M3 is not? Something is not adding up here.
not meaning to insult....I love my vette, have had 4 of them, and will have more of them, but for a cheap little car the i35 is a fun drive and very understated on power/performance.....and the M's are the holy grail of performance if you ask me, very fast yet fully refined luxury, but come with the steep price tag,
