Default HUD on the '99

I'm putting HUD in my '99 FRC. It is my understanding that Vettes late in the run come with the required 11 point harness. Does anybody have information on this? I want to have all of the parts before I tear the dash out. My car was late in the run, 6-4-99.
Thanks in advance.

No to the windshield. Many guys have posted that the regular windshield works fine. My brother did this last year, it works great with the original windshield.

Put a HUD in my 99 vert as well. Worked fine & I had a 11pin harness. My car was built in March I do believe. I am not sure & am the 2nd owner. It isn't to hard either. I did mine myself & took 3 hrs from start to completed..........

Bob,

Thanks for the info. This is what I am looking for, '99s, HUD conversion, 11 pin harness, and build date. I'm feeling positive but would like a few more posts.

I'm putting this in a '99 Nassdau Blue FRC. My favorite color.
Thanks,
Ron

There was a post a while ago that GM wants a repair order number before they will sell a HUD unit. Gene Culley even commented that this was true and would cut into his sales.

Good luck finding a unit.

you will need some sort of small angle drill to drill 1 hole for the hud to bolt down or you could use some 5 min epoxy to hold it in place , the cutout for the bezel is on the back of the dash pad cut the hole small to start with and increase size slowly so as not to get it to big . if you have any questions give me a holler

You're good to go. My '99, built on 3/29/99 was HUD ready. I made the conversion. Kept standard windshield. No problems.
As stated already, take your time on cutting the dash-pad.

Mine was built on 06/08/99, a day before my b-day, and it has HUD.

I ordered a '99 Coupe in November 98 and took delivery in January '99. It was ordered with the HUD. You should have no problems installing one in yours.

Me too, for the Ok. Installed HUD in my 99 FRC, which was built in Mar 99.

And I did the epoxy glue thing instead of the right angle drill and it worked great. Took me about 5 hours total and have never did something like that before.

I would assume so. My FRC was a late production run and it has the HUD

Rick, thanks for the update on the switch. Thanks to everybody else on the information. I appreciate it. I'm counting on my BRO, Dave515, to assist with this project. By the way, my wife gave me the window sticker and option list from the National Corvette Museum for my birthday, very cool.
