If you go to an aftermarket catback system then, No you won't have to do anything but enjoy the sound.

Doing "this" right now. Retune will be $250 (original dyno tune after S/C was $450).

So am I to understand that if all I am changing is from after the cats back I am ok?? If so does anyone have a suggestion as to what brand has a deep muscle car tone to it? But not so loud it is annoying in the car.

Yes, you can install a new / different catback exhaust without a re-tune. Hard to get a deep muscle car sound out of the C5, due to unique engine/timing of LS1 engine. Suggest you go to car shows and to local corvette club, so you can listen to various exhaust systems already installed on LS1s, and you can decide what you like. I have GHL Bullet catback stainless steel exhaust and like the sound and appearance......get lots of compliments on both!!!

Good luck with your selection.

I have TPIS long tubes with quad tip B&B Bullets and it is bad a$$. I prefer the quad tip to the dual because it fills up the space in the back and more is better, right Plus they are very intimidating just to look at. No drone, and the best sound I've heard. I know some will say that it's too loud but I seriously beg to differ. I have a 6-spd and it's very easy to control how loud it gets. That's what makes it so fun, if you want it loud just press the fun pedal. You want it louder, downshift. It's that simple. As cruising speeds 60-75 mph it is only barely louder than stock, so it doesn't get annoying on long trips. Hell, I drove from NY to Texas with 'em and it was fine, even my girlfriend didn't notice or mind.

Anyway, back to the point, just go to you tube and type in B&B Bullets, or Borla stingers, or whichever system you are considering. Believe me, there's a system out there for everybodies tastes.

Good luck and enjoy your C5 anyway you want to- it's your car!

That's a pretty tall order to satisfy both requirements you have.

How loud,(or not) is more about personal preferrence than any other factor. I would listen to other installed systems, and then decide from that.

For me, that decision was a set of Z06 Ti's.
