I already messed up the one on the car , I will pick up a used shifter assembly today , is this something that a weekend warrior can do , or do I need a tranny shop?
I replaced mine. Bought new from Gene Culley, not a cheap part.Be careful of the brake release cable. i broke the connector and had to put a self tap screw in to hold it on. So far so good. Took less then a hour even with the repair. Good luck, I should have taken pics.

does anybody have pics or suggestions on this removal , I know that I need to be careful with the cable up front that goes towards the ashtray?
Don't lift it too far or you'll break the main shift cable which requires removal of the exhaust and tunnel plate to change that.
I know I have to remove the screws then I lift up a little and disconnect that shift cable is that correct? I'm not gonna get to it , till next weekend , but just want to be sure , I don't have the spare part in hand yet to get a visual of whats underneat?
