On a 2001, how do you get the shifter **** off? and do you have to remove it to get the console off? I am replacing my dual control zone AC unit. I am going to need to get this off. Any help will be great!!
It'll help to provide as much information as possible...automatic transmission, manual transmission, etc.
In C5 Tech, use search or search this forum (in the red banner).
Use keywords "demon key, c5/z06 shifter, c6/z06 shifter", or similar. You'll find tons of past threads, images and helpful hints.
If I recall, with a manual transmission, you DONT need to take the shift **** off, to remove the radio bezel / console piece. The shift boot attaches to a plastic ring that fills out that part of the trim panel. It can be squeezed and forced "below" the radio bezel. Then, go about removing the bezel as normal. Put the shift **** in 2/4/6 gear to provide more working room for the bezel removal. You'll leave behind the shifter, the ****, and the boot... but the bezel should come right off.
