Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this
I fitted a BM short shifter about 12 months - no problem with it but reverse wasn't particulary easy to slot in.
More recently it's become more and more difficult (and sometime impossible) to select reverse. I can go up and down the box and it's fine.
Recently we had a bit of cold weather and it seemed to get better ?!
I've made sure everything was nice and tight on the shifter - any suggestions ?

Linkage ?
The short shifters all seem to be a little difficult to get into reverse. I just switched from B&M to the MGW 30% Shifter. It is a little easier to get into reverse but doesn't feel as good shifting to me. Each must have their short comings. I haven't hit the track with this new one yet but the B&M would sure grab some gears.

Thanks chaps
I've been trying that - but even sometimes it won't do it.
And this is progressively getting worse ?
Very annoying when yr trying to park it in a tight London car park space !

Do you ever have any problems shifting any other gears? I ask because my car is a bitch to get into reverse but I have to drop the RPMs down to get it into other gears.

The corvette gearbox is a bit agricultural compared to other modern units (actually my 30 old porsche has a nicer shift) anyway - it's not the smoothest of changes at the best of times - but it's liveable from 1-6 - i could cope if reverse was selectable - even with a 3rd to reverse move - but I can go out sometimes and not get reverse at all ?
Welcome to the T56...cobra guys claim to have similar issues. Mine is a pain to get into...sometimes it goes in half way and I think its all the way and when I try to back up it grinds outta gear Embarassing to say the least
The shifter box that mounts to the torque tube has probably loosened up and needs re-aligned and tightened up. If the locator bushings that are in the shifter box mount are worn, that is what's causing your problem. I've been fighting this for years and damned GM doesn't sell the bushings separately, you need to buy a whole new shifter assembly to get the damned bushings. If some machine shop would copy these things and offer them for sale on here and the other Vette forums, they would make a killing! Hope this helps.
B&M Sells Solid Mount Bushings. But, Yes if you want the Rubber Ones with the Trick Washers, you do need to buy a whole assembly. You might be able to find some on Fleebay..

Just searched B&M's website and I found the bushings with their precision sport shifter for the corvette, but couldn't find the part listed separately,,,guess I need to email them to see if they sell them separately.
Thanks ,
