No, they will compliment a cam but are not necessary. Now if you are going to consider getting heads, then your cam selection may be different to better match the heads selection.

would it kill you to make a title describing what information you would like to know? Other people later on may search for this info and come up short because you're too lazy to type out a sufficient thread title... no offense but that just irks me.

I have the G5X1E cam and a set of AFR 205 Heads. You will short yourself 30+rwhp not getting the heads.

You can do the heads later though, Its not that big a deal.

I made 448/432 at the wheels now. Im still considering the Fast 92 setup which I'm told should give me 15-20 more at the wheels. The options for this motor are practically limitless.

Torque also.... those heads are good for at least 40rwtq over stock 243s.

The G5X1 or G5XE cams work great with the factory GM heads, of course just like in Toque's case the AFR's pumped that up even more so.

The AFR's themselves are going to be a better over all. Better casting, materials, porting, valve angle...it is just a better head over all.

HP gains vary, and you would see more of a gain from aftermarket heads the larger the cam you choose as air flow demands increase.

Let me know if you have any questions, of course Toque can give you some great customer feed back as well!

Very possible yea. I just pulled 30 out of my azz.... I figured I would be close .... My AFR 205's are also milled to 59cc which helped up the compression to 11.1 to 1 (LG says). I believe it helps keep the torque #'s up.
