Default Help with Stealership!!!

To make a long story short I recently had my Z06 in to replace a transmission seal and the dreaded differential seal. They had the car for over a month and when I finally got it back the differential seal leaks worse than it ever did before. I took it back and they said they would look at it. They gave it back to me and said it wouldn't leak again. That night I drove it for about 100 miles and it leaked badly. Took it back again, they told me it didn't leak on them and it has been bone dry. I picked it up and they scratched the back truck. Needless to say I was pissed as hell! Took it back and they fixed the scratches. I got it back and drove it about 100 miles and the differential is still leaking!

There is absolutely no way I will take it back to them ever again! The work they did has a 1 year warranty.

They should still be responsible for the repair I paid for and it's still not fixed. What should I do???

BBB, state motor vehicles, small claims court, maybe threaten a lawsuit. Make sure you have all your paperwork, receipts, and signed warranties stipulating what it covers. You shouldn't have to be treated like this from a reputaple dealer. Good luck.

Yep. Sounds like you need to go higher than the dealer to get results. Some dealerships are better than others obviously. Dimmitt Chevrolet here in Clearwater, Fl has been great to me so far, others not so much from what I gather. Good luck.

First call should be to the dealership service manager and arrange a side by side inspection, then if not satisfied contact the GM District service rep.

Take it to a different dealership. Back in the 90's I had a turbo Lebarron. I took it in for what I thought was a coolant leak at the engine. (It was still under warranty). They told me it was an intercooler hose and that it wasn't covered under warranty. They charged me a couple hunded bucks. A few months later it was leaking again. I took it to another dealership for the problem and they ask me who made the repair, because it wasn't done right. The hose put on wasn't the special high temp hose that was required, it was a just a piece of heater hose. When I told them it was a Dodge dealer, they ended up refunding the money I paid to the Dodge dealer and fixed the hose with the correct hose for no charge. Dealerships aren't like doctors where they stick together an cover each others asses, in fact I've found they are more than willing to expose another dealership for shoddy work.

And if you don't get any satisfaction, take them to court for a refund and then find a better dealer.

See if you can get in touch with the GM Zone Rep. That is the person who is supposed to resolve these problems. These rear ends leak only after being driven a long way like you did. The dealer did not. Speak with Corvette people who have had a similar repair done properly and see if the zone rep can get you there. This dealership is incompetent.

We did mine in my garage and it doesn't leak. It should be done once and properly. Not only did your dealer not fix it, they damaged your car. 1 month is unacceptable for the repairs.

In the meantime, though, contact your credit card company and file a dispute immediately so that you don't have to pay that amount.

I'm going to contact GM and find out who is my Zone Rep. Hopefully someone besides me will have to pay to get it fixed at a dealer that knows what they are doing. Of course this is now winter and when this all started it was in Sept and now I have my insurance coverage suspended because I'm not driving it and I don't want to drive it on the salty, snowy roads.

Luckily this was still under a 90 day warranty that was paid by the dealer I bought it from so I'm not worried about getting my money back, I JUST WANT IT FIXED!!!

Do any of you think that I'm going to have some kinda of problem with the transmission seal. They told me they basically had to rebuild the transmission just to get to the seal??? This makes me very, very nervous.

Demand your money back and go somewhere else. You paid them to fix the issue and the issue is not fixed. Get your money back. If the service writer will not listen, speak to the service manager and then to the General Manager of the dealership. Getting GM Customer Relations involved is also a good move. Keep the pressure on them. Good luck with it.

A great time to get GM's attention concerning service since you just help fund their bailout. Contact the dealership and zone mgrs and take the time to send a well crafted letter to GM leadership.

Molotov cocktail should make you feel alot better. Sucks and to add a scratch from a stealership is like standard operating procedure. They are not in control of there process`s and should have to maintain ISO900 certification, IMO.

Hope it works out for you.

Peace,
Les

Personally - I would be talking with the dealership owner. In the dealership, this person sits on top of the food chain.l He/she is the one person in control that can make decisions and make things happen.

Talking to GM and zone reps is okay - but the reality is that each dealership is just that - and independent business selling a product that is manufactured by GM. The service department is not selling anything but service and labor. I would sit down and have a polite, but firm conversation with the dealership owner, lay out your grievance with dates and proof in the form of service tickets showing on what date the repairs were performed.

Don't make threats or raise your voice. Do not use profanity or say anything that can be construed as a threat. If this does not yield any positive results, then I would consider filing a claim in court to get the court costs and the money paid out returned.

In today's economic climate, the dealers are feeling the pinch big time, and most if not all want happy satisfied customers.

Stop going to the dealer!?

There's no reason to get work done through the dealer over another shop or yourself. Stay away from the dealer service center people!

Dealerships are worthless! I am sorry you had to go through this crap, but at least now you see the light. If you want to try and get your money back for the half-a$$ repairs I would try to get in touch with the dealership's owner. If that does not work then call GM's corporate headquarters. You should also file a complaint with the BBB right away.
