Default ABS, Traction Control, Active Handling Service

Good Morning All,
I had a dead battery along with the ABS, etc service warnings displayed recently and through various searches found the following:
Codes showing = 1214 HC, 2809, 2252, 2282,2283, 22284,2285 and I think 4106 (the battery is dead again so I can't run them again) all followed by H.
Before I send out my ECBM module for repair I have a couple of questions:

1. When it says check grounds by the hood hinges and battery compartment, what exactly do I need to do? Is visual ok or do I need to do more?
2. There was a suggestion to remove the 60 amp fuse to prevent the battery from draining again? I looked at both fuse panels and didn't see a 60 amp fuse. Where is it?
3. Who or where do you suggest to repair the module?
4. Anything else I forgot or omitted?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions

Ken

Don't be so fast.

First, if all of your codes are "H" (history) codes you aren't going to have a problem.

Second, if you are consistently getting battery drain, that's the gremlin that you need to chase. Low battery levels will give you some erroneous codes and you need to solve the battery problem first.

If it does turn in to an EBCM repair you'll be pleased with www.absfixer.com Brandon will make the repair and warranty his work.

Good luck

I don't know if this has any bearing but the ABS, etc warnings were going on for several days before the dead battery problem began. The battery is only 2 years old and all the cells look pretty good visually.
Assuming it's not the ECBM, any tips on troubleshooting the battery drain other than having the battery tested?
Again, thanks.

If the battery is only two years old, take it to the dealer where you bought it, and tell them it won't hold a charge. They can test it (for free). Be sure to tell them all the details. It is not unusual for a battery to "look" OK. They can use a hydrometer to check individual cells, and they can do a load test using a machine. I highly doubt you have a EBCM problem since the battery is showing problems too. The electronics in a Vette seem to go a bit wild if not supplied with correct voltages. You can lose power in one cell and the car might start, but the computers will not get proper sensor information. at least one of your codes indicate that one wheel is spinning faster than another, virtually impossible if the car isn't moving.

You might want to 'borrow' a known good battery before spending a lot on replacement parts. Good Luck

Thanks again for the help. I'll work in that direction. I sure wouldn't mind NOT having to spend $200 right now!

Ken, maybe not what you want to hear but I'm afraid with the dreaded C1214C you almost certainly have an EBCM problem. Invariably with that code the EBCM is bad. I'd say a refurb with absfixer.com would be a good move.

You can drive the car while the EBCM is off for repair but remember that you don't have active handling looking after you.

Good advice from the guys and if you have a drain you need to find it. Seat switches are a common problem. Once you've done the troubleshooting get a new battery or at least get a charger and top it off. This car exhibits all kinds of weird problems when the battery starts to go bad. Just not worth the hassle for the cost of a new battery IMHO.
