Coming back from the track in Sacramento one night I stopped at a 7-11 at about 12:30 a.m to throw some garbage out of my 99frc(431 rwhp). There was apparently some type of evo/sti meeting or cruise going on, 'cause there was like 10 of 'em in the parking lot, with a bunch of youngsters standing around. Anyway, I never turned my car off, I just leaned out the window, threw the garbage in the garbage can by the gas pumps, and drove out. Well when I got to the next stoplight, it looked like a x-mas parade coming up behind me!! They ALL got in their cars to hunt me down, & all I could see were their blueish headlight in my rear view mirror!! Anyhow, this one kid in a black Lancer pulls up beside me at about 30 mph and looks over at me, and......well.........Let's just say I got a 10 for the price of 1 deal
I can comment since I had a modified WRX before my VETTE, had it for 4 years. It was the best car ive owned and most reliable. Nothing by general maintenance from when I bought it in 2003 to when I sold it last year.
For about 1000$ it was running consistent 13.2-13.5 qtrs and was very fun to drive.. High end it did SUCK! After I hit 110 km's it wouldn't have much more juice.
Dont get my wrong I love my vette! They are completely different beasts!
most people here are clueless .My Little brother's evo IX MR has 458 WHP (Built BY AMS 850R turbo kit on pump gas) it will put a hurting on half the cars on this siteshortly we will put a stroker Kit ans make 700+whp
Some are, some arent...It may beat half the cars on this site, as it should.....I would be willling to say that most people on this site arent in it for stright line racing. Take that comment to the FI section where it belongs and you will get laughed at.
700+ whp is no joke I have a buddy that is having his S2000 built now and its peobably going to make 700 whp with race gas on the stock motor. That being said, ANYTHING can be made to go fast with the right amount of money. IMO, the LS powerplant is just a better starting point
Good luck reaching the 700 mark on your brothers car
my last car was a 2006 Evo 9, it was a great car and I will miss it for a long time.
but you guys can not compare corvettes to these turbo sedans..... turbo 4 banger with awd to big na v8 rwd?? not even close to the same kind of car.
yes the Evo has an awesome motor, and you can make good power with it, but the higer you go the less drivable it is with more lag when you go bigger turbo.
mine had cams, turboback exhaust, licp, mbc set at 23psi, fuel pump, drop in filter, and tune and it made 326 awhp.. still less than my stock c5 z makes....
and some people make them ricey which sucks, but I bought mine^^^ because I really like Rally and wanted an AWD perforance car.

You have to compare apples to apples. Some of you keep saying a modded ______ can beat a stock c5 anyday.....well no ****. If you really want to compare....slap a turbo on the C5 and push 20 psi of boost through it while the EVO has 20 psi also. Get the point?
The C5 is a great car but when it is stock, up against and AWD turboed car, the results will be quite different
the real deal - father and son cars.... One generation into big block v-8s, the other obtaining maximum hp out of 4 cylinders.
Don't take those japanese imports as just a fart can nuisance. The power they put out is insane. My kid has an 05 sti and he works for cobb tuning. It has every trick in the book on it (except nitros - still pushing 20 lbs boost). By changing some tuning parameters this little hot rod is putting down 292 ponies to the wheels!

agreed they can be mucho fast but they are ugly and those subaru,s sound even worse
Well, some people on the forum are car guys, and into any kind of high performance vehicle.
, I am not only a Corvette enthusiast, I am a CAR enthusiast. 'Ricers' who hate on domestics only because they are domestic are just as bad as Corvette drivers to hate on imports or euros.

Looks like the original picture was a staged shot meant for fun. I think it's pretty funny. I may feel differently if some stranger flipped me off at a light though.
Interesting all the debate that a simple picture started. Heck, I enjoy all cars and motorcycles. Basically all that are fun to drive or ride.
Its good to see there are at least a few CAR people on here... Its crazy to say because I LOVE Corvettes so much, but there are modified and tuned cars out there that I wouldn't mind driving. My buddy has an 05 STi, 300 RWHP. With its 3.90 gearing its a crazy car off the line, it handles the corners just fine and its not half bad looking.
I have to say that I do love my Z. It gets 30+ MPG on the intersate, 22 mpg in the city.... I can run 80 mph and hear nothing but radio, but I can dump it into 2nd at 40 mph and get a hell on earth roar!!
I can;t say this for my buddies STi. I have driven his car and riden in it!! It loud at a stand still, It loud at cruising speeds, it get 20 mpg on the interstate, and 17 in the city...
Props to any car that surpasses peoples stereotypes, looks good and halls A$$!!!!!
If I was in an EVO I would be jealous of a Corvette too!!! At the end of the day The Corvette will always be one of the most respected ALL AMERICAN sports cars in the world....I just happen to bleed red, white, and blue so it matters to me!!!

+1 Can’t agree more. This kind of sounds like Honduh tech.
I think some of you need to get out to the road course and get your butts handed to you by a Spec Miata or two or to broaden your horizon a little bit. Also compare apples to oranges much?
My older brother has an Evo 9 and yeah the stock turbo makes like 23psi, and some minor mods over 400whp! I'm pretty sure it will last a long time that way. He's a 52 yrs old car nut, so it's not just a kids toy. They have a nice community established in North Cali. I drove it down the track once at Sac Raceway, and it has very different nature from the vette. I dropped the clutch at 4K rpm and expected to blast off like my vette, but instead bogged until the rpm's were up, then it took off nice.
