Hey I'm A newbie! C-5 Corvette owner..I traded my 2002 Collector Edition Trans am in along with a 1979 Show car trans am also to get this car! And love it...Anyone have ANYTHING to help me out let me know...
Anyway I have a couple of things to ask the pros First I have been smelling like Plastic melting smell every since I bought it 3 weeks ago I only smell it outside of the car and when i drive it up the road a mile or so hard? Any Ideas? ...I was thinking cat-converter? or maybe a bag has been stuck to the pipes? Anyways Just checkin?

Second > I race hard I mean hard! ...(at the track) the other week...it slipped about 1500 rpm's I would guess...but shifts fine normal driving...and passing ,shifter feels smooth through all the gears so I know the synchronizers are slowing it down and all...but just wondering if thats common on a stock clutch... 11 inch right? my trans am was a 10 1/2 inch clutch never had any problem with that one?
thanks guys

Congrats on getting the car and welcome to the forum. You might be on the right track checking for a plastic bag on the exhaust.

Welcome and congrats on the vette. I would also check to see if a plastic bag or something has gotten on the exhaust.

Welcome

Im sure if you race hard the mod bug is already in effect.

Can't help you with RPM drop (seems normal) but check your FULL exhaust to see maybe theres a wal-mart sack burning against it

Welcome! I agree with the others, you might check under the car to a see if a plastic bag is stuck to the pipes. Another thing is to check under the front cowl, to see if a plastic bag or some other debris got sucked into the radiator area.

One piece of advice - street racing, even mentioning it here is forbidden. If you participate in it - my advice is take it to the track, and do not talk about kill stories here, unless you want a quick trip to banned camp....which would be a shame for a newbie!

The "bog" could be due to the Traction Control (or Active Handling) kicking in for a split second. You can put the car into Competitive mode by holding down the TC button for about 10 seconds. That will disengage the Traction Control, but leave the Active Handling enabled, which will "help" keep the car from going out of control if you start to get "out of sorts"...... I wouldn't recommend turning the AH system completely off, though.

Congrats and Welcome to the Forum

I'm pretty sure it's in the owner's manual, but won't say for sure, since I didn't read it there.... I learned it here, just like every last bit of knowledge I've gained on this car!!! I love this site
