My car was broken into recently and they broke my passenger side window. I am picking up the new glass but dont wanna pay someone to install it if possible. I was wondering if anyone had instructions on how to replace a window. Here is the damage they did. They got the black C6 at the same time.
They are not that hard to install but if you never did a side glass they can be difficult to align correctly, alot of trial and error, best bet is to find someone with a c-5 service manual, for any year and read it carefully, if you can borrow the book and do it step by step.
Had the same thing happen to me. Passenger side also. I got a new glass and installed it myself. Not hard at all, take your time. Little hard to get in lined up, by trial and error you will get it.
It is not hard to remove the old glass and get the new glass centered in the window opening, but you have to remove the inside door panel to get to the clamp bolts that hold the window in the window regulator assembly.
Once you get the old glass out, you can have someone sit inside the car while you center the glass in the opening. Then the person inside the car can tighten the clamp bolts. You can use the other side as a guide to position of the glass in the weatherstrip.
Picking the glass up tonight and installing. I hope it is as easy as everyone tells me it is. I am pretty mechanically inclined so I should be able to do it no sweat. Thanks for all the advice though.
