are there any in dash units that you can store you music onto the hard-drive-memory. as in you put in the cd and you can upload the music from the cd to the unit and creat different folders. that way you can store all the music you like without having to keep burning a cds or buy albums. as if it were an ipod but an ipod you have to plug into the pc to put music on it. are there any in dash units that can store the music from a cd?

Check out the audio section but to answer your question....YES they do exist. The more fancy ones (with their own built in hard drives are $$$ expensive. The other route don't quite work the way you have described but essentially gets the same thing done. Take the Kenwood 7120 or 8120 for example, still expensive (around $750-$1500) but cheaper then the units having the built in drives. Both Kenwoods have the capabilities to plug in a USB device directly to it and quickly read it. So you can add a USB hard drive or USB portable stick, etc to your head unit. Basically any USB device that can store your folders and music on. Most guys keep this device plugged into the head unit at all times and store it in a convenient location such as the glovebox. You can then easily remove it to change the songs (add or delete) from your laptop or home desktop. This is exactly the route Iam heading. You won't have to worry about CD's or even DVD's. You still have the ability to use them, but don't need them.

You need a custom bezel with mose of the Nav units. I have the Kenwood 8120 and I had an IPOD station installed in the cup holder. i then down loaded all my CDs to the IPOD and have continuous music. Great Set up

with Fred. So much easier to load music with a separate Ipod attachment

your custom bezel has been done for three weeks now and ready to go if you still want it. If not it will be offered for sale.
