I had a 76 for 30 years. Bought the 04 in 07 and glad I did. I drive the 04 much more than I would have the 76. Like you, I love the body style of the C3. I had the 76 dash out several times....not fun!!!
Congrats on the C5.

Thanks again guys, I appreciate the help. The car is a manual and depressing the clutch does the trick (throw out bearing?).

I still love 6th gear and the quiet cruise.

I am gently letting the wife know I would like to keep the 74. The bike still has to go.

Thanks again, Chris

Don't think it to be a throw out bearing. they all do that from brand new to the well used ones.

I only know because it happenned to me. I've had my car almost a year now, and it's my first Corvette. I noticed the death rattle after a few days of ownership and it concerned me so I asked this forum what it was and was told to always put it in reverse and hold in the clutch when shutting off the engine. Apparently these cars made the noise from the factory if you shut them off in neutral without the clutch in.

So no worries!

Congrat's and welcome to the C5 forum. I sold my 74 about a week ago and have had by C5 for over 4 years. The 74 was fun but the C5's and C6's are just so much more a complete all around world class super car.
