yeah it starts off with one thing and rolls into a TOTALLY different car lol i started off just excited to get it. Within' a week i had painted the calipers, Short shifter and C6 ****, put on B&B Bullets, an intake and rear inserts. Now i'm up to Chrome C6 Z06 wheels, heads, cam, LS6 intake manifold, underdrive, LT's and o/r X-pipe, injectors. Added Heads Up Display(HUD), Column Lock Bypass, and did the guage bezels in stainless. Now this winter i'm looking to add grey carpet, a C6 Z06 shifter, TPiS Oval intake and t/b, retune, getting new '09+ Z06 wheels, lowering it and repainting it It's a VICIOUS cycle
Well I am kinda in your position...I just got my car too and I should be doing cat-back exhaust first hangar broke and on the 2000 corvettes the tips look terrible. I plan on looking into the column lock bypass also. Besides that I wouldnt know where to start honestly.
Thanks for the info very informative. Where do I get the bypass kit from?
Thanks
Clive
First, can receive better advice if you fill out your profile.
Second, chances are you don't need column lock bypass kit, unless your car is one of the following models:
1997-2004 CHEVROLET CORVETTE EQUIPPED WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION
1997-2000 CHEVROLET CORVETTE EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
2001-2004 CHEVROLET CORVETTE EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION – EUROPEAN EXPORT
VEHICLES ONLY
Even then, the previous owner may have had the bypass done.
I was wondering were there any esensial mods that need to be done for example skid plate protectors etc or are they just sales hype?
Thanks
Clive
Definitely a sales hype. Just be a little more careful entering and exiting driveways, etc. The C5 has the curb gaurd in the front already and is very handy for some of us who just can't seem to figure out how long that front end really is. I have it now after 1 1/2 years of ownership. :o

If the car doesn't have an aftermarket cat back on it now, think about getting one. Much better sound than stock. A new air intake would be a good mod too.
one way to know if you have a CL bypass is when you turn off your key do you hear a motor noise by the dash/steering wheel area? It'll also Lock the steering wheel in place until the ket is inserted and turned. It's noticable noise when it locks. If it makes noise it's not bypassed. I did this mod before i even had issues because i don't wanna deal with it locking up if i'm 100+ miles from home or even down the street from home. i just don't like dealing with that crap Also for a catback exhaust, depending on what you want for sound you have a hard decision to make. The Corsa exhaust doesn't have the highway drone but In my opinion doesn't sound as good as, lets say, Borla Stingers(my favorite on stock cars). If you don't plan on doing any major engine work i'd say stingers are your best bet but they will have some highway drone. But man when you go WOT they sound WICKED

Thanks great info.
I was just looking at B&B Bullet system but wonder how loud it would be at cruise?
I also like the Airforce Blackwing box, any thoughts?
Thanks
Clive
PS Completed my 1st mod today, wheel locks!!!!!!!!!
Not sexy but needed me thinks!
depends on the B&B although most of them are LOUD. mine drones alot at cruise. Mines a heads/cam/LT's car though but it did before that too. B&B are probably the most aggressive sounding but it's necessary to get an Xpipe too then as it'll have a tractor sounding idle if you don't(trust me on this one). At cruise it's not real horrible but it's noticable in the car for sure. If you don't like drone don't get B&B.mine sounds MEAN when WOT Your best bet for a good exhaust that's quiet at cruise and pretty subtle at idle would be the C5 Z06 Titanium exhaust. It's nice and docile sounding at idle and cruise but sounds awesome when you go WOT. No drone at cruise
This is the Z06 titanium on a bolt on, heads/cam/LT's car on the dyno. Fast forward a bit as i made the video quite long Don't mind all the pics, haha
here's a vid before my tune of the Z06's in the car for a quick jaunt. sorry for the shakey camera. It's hard trying to film and floor it ***Disclaimer*** was filmed in Mexico
