Default zo6 exhaust

hello yes i have a 2002 zo6 my second zo6 first was a 2003 ,im thinking of a new exhuast and this is what im looking for in one,i want it to sound a lot better at idle and real real good at wide open throttle but when im cruzing i dont want it to sound like a old chevy without mufflers,i think the stock exhaust sounds really good at open throttle ,im just wanting to step it up a notch or two,but not aggrevating,i would love to hear some feed back on this before i might make a mistake----thanks for your feed back

Hi,
I would ponder your future mods in deciding which cat back to go with. After installing long tube headers, the stock TI's really growl with more authority as well as keeping the weight down. This in addition to no drone at cruising to speak of. Some of the other more deeper sounding cat backs might be too loud and add some unwanted drone if other mods are done. I've read good things about the NXT Step/Granatelli system as far as quality and definitely price. It's one I'm considering down the road just for the sound change. Good luck!

I did the bypass mod to my stock Ti's and couldn't be happier with the sound. Along with my cam and long tubes it sounds pretty good.

Look up the GHL system.

Full range sound (at all rpm it sounds different, not just one tone getting louder)

ok i think im going with corsa extreme system.my question would be on the x-pipe they offer? they say that it will eliminate the poping and mumbling of the stock h-pipe.i would love to hear some of your opinions on this question.the h-pipe thing always has been a concern of mine,if the exhaust comming out on both sides of the h-pipe .well where does the exhaust air go? i think it goes down a dead end against each other?? im sure it might have something to do with back pressure ,but does it need it? the x-pipe thing makes more sense to me with a better flow rate? please if you could tell me what you think

Wait 'til you hear the sound of a Z with headers and a big cam.

The X pipe is more efficient and evenly dissipates pulses from the engine to each muffler. The stock h-pipe only has a small hole in between the h section, which accounts for its inefficiency. The more technically experienced forum members I'm sure can comment in a more detailed manner regarding where/how the exhaust air exits/flows. I can say IMO, the Corsa system is nice, but pricey and heavy. If you are looking for deeper/muscle sound, the Corsa is more on the exotic end. Some complain of the "motor boat" like idle sound, while others really like the tone. I had a Corsa on my old C6, and it wasn't my style. It is a high quality system though. You can buy/install the Corsa mufflers w/out the X pipe I believe.

yes i can buy the corsa without the x-pipe for about 300 dollars less, but i would like to get rid of that poping/mumbling sound if that x-pipe will do that for me,seems like it will flow better also

Yes please keep us posted im in limbo also with the exhaust. I have a stock 03 z06 with just a borla x-pipe. I'd be curious on how you like the corsa extreme. My biggest problem is the weight being added with after market. In Miami nobody knows how to do the by-pass mod.

a great idea is to get on youtube and just search c5 z06 or something to that nature and listen to their exhausts. Most will list their mods and what not so you can determine what you like as well. I know it's been very helpful for me.

Default Upgraded Exhaust

Sound is at the ear of the owner. I have the Pypes Violator and love them. To me they do every thing you are looking for. Myself I like the sound, to me in the car I can't really tell what others hear and don't really care but it sounds the way I want it to inside.
