Default Opening the console lid

Sorry for the newbie question. Is the console lid supposed to open all the way up? When I pop it open, it only goes 1/2-3/4 of the way up. Is that normal? Thanks in advance!

Yes, It goes all the way up.. It's got a weird hinge. But it does go all the way up or vertical! You gotta pull up and a little over!

Open it up a little then pull outward then it should open all the way up.

Apply a minute amount of lubricant on the hinges to make it open a little easier...

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I just hit the hinge with some silicone spray and it pops right open and up now.

It's like a doublejointed hinge. Open it a little then put your fingers under the lid on the hinge side and pull straight up as you continue to open with your other hand. Works for me. And remember the only dumb question is the one never asked. Good luck

Thought mine was broke the first time I tried it. Took me a few minutes to figure out the "weird hinge"...not sure why it just cant open like normal...

I think if it was a regular hinge the lid would hit the E brake handle when it is in the up position.

keep opening when it "stops" halfway. It'll pop open all the way to vertical.

Mine has done the exact same thing since I bought it. I once asked about it at the dealership, They said that's how it works?

The silicone spray worked wonders on the hinge after I worked it in a bit. It now opens totally and easily without the extra tug towards the drivers side.

This makes it work well, still kind of fragile and not to be forced!

Mine still does hit the e-brake handle (if it's up) and closes itself (usually on my hand).

I guess it's supposed to be auto closing.
