Very nice looking sir!

Is the weight savings a total of 32 lbs or is 32 lbs per side? I'm always down for some weight savings.

That's total...if that were per side, then the Corbeaus including brackets could only weigh 8 pounds
The stock seats with rails are ~40 pounds each. The Corbeau driver side with bracket is 26 lbs, the passenger side with bracket is 22 lbs.

Still a fairly good weight off the Vette.
If you want to save more weight, non-pop up headlights take away 40lbs, and non-run flats will also be a bit lighter...

Since your profile isn't filled out, and you wrote "anyways," are you in Vancouver BC (where "anyways" is used) , or Washington? Curious.

BC
I think WA and BC should have a joint car meet...we're close enough. Of course, it would have to be in BC Cheers, Indy

PS: I'll have to fill in my profile...but I've only been a member for 10 years...it takes a while

ok...test drive completed (overcast skies, slightly damp roads, but at least it didn't rain). Corbeaus are great! Really good support (you can take corners without having to worry about slipping off the seat), and they're not as uncomfortable as I thought It is a bit harder getting in and out, but I'm still young (for now...). Summary: great mod

I sure like the look. However, they don't seem to have much lumbar support? I like a nice bulge in the lower back area. Also, do they sit any lower than the stock seats? Headroom's at a premium in my cars, so I couldnt consider any higher.

Well, it depends on how you mount them. If you put them on the stock rails, I suppose they might be just as high or higher (the seats are more upright, so you will sit more straight). I made my brackets as low as possible...the seats are a bit lower than stock, with plenty of headroom (I'm about 6'3).

For clarification on the mounting brackets...

You seem to imply that they would have worked with the stock power brackets ,but you made your own, for the reasons described.

But they will work with the stock power brackets?

Unless I missed it.. What model of seat is that?

Thanks for the good info.

You have to understand, you can make anything work I already had the stock bracket disassembled from the seat, because that was my original plan. But for me, I don't care about the electronic adjustability, the stock brackets weigh a lot more, and they're a bit higher than I prefer. So I decided to make my own brackets. I'm sure you could modify the stock brackets (some cutting and welding may be required) to fit the Corbeau seats.
I believe that fiberglass/carbon fibre shell seats are easier to mount on the stock rails, since they are bolted to side brackets which can be easily attached. They will be a lot higher though, and I'm quite tall...
With the brackets I have, I can move the seat back and forth, and I can use washers to adjust the incline. That's good enough for me.
Do a search. There's lots of people who have mounted racing seats on the stock rails. Hope that answers your question Cheers, Indy

Oh, and it's the Corbeau Forza. There's also the Forza 2 (wide version), but I REALLY DOUBT it will fit. Even the Forza is a tight fit (in terms of width).

Yes, I thought your original explanation was great, especially with your height. My question was more to someone like me who is shorter, and does not want to fabricate anything. In my case, then, the stock brackets do not work either without fabrication?

Thanks for a good write-up.

Here's the two brackets I made. Kept it very simple...the last pic is the stock bracket...see the difference?

Excellent! Post some pics when they're in!!!!

ZR1991, I think the stock rails will work, but you will have to do some minor fab work (unless, as I said, you buy fibreglass/carbon fibre shell seats, then the install should be a snap). Or buy brackets from Corbeau, Sparco, etc...made especially for the Vette (they sell these, but cost around 100 dollars). Hope that helps If I were you, I'd just buy the seats, then test them on the stock bracket. If there's no way you can mount them, order the ones for the Vette.

Well, that certainly is a height and weight difference!

What model of seat did you get?
