Before u say this has been addressed, it has and I've read it. my problem is the car will not engage the starter or start at all and my resistance on my key is fine. checked it with key in ignition and restance was dead on. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I accidentally broke my key off in the ign switch. In trying to fish it out I damaged the security contacts for the resistor on the key. I bought a whole second hand ign switch from ebay and installed it and everything worked except the starting. like turning the key all the way with the clutch out, I then took the contact and wires off of the new unit and put them on my old unit but before installing I checked resistance and it read 2.36 or key number 8. I cannot figure what happened, can u shed some lite on my situation. Is there some kind of dance routine like turn left blinker on, press gas pedal 3 times while pushing the windshield washer and turning the steering 183 degrees from north? hehehehehhe
I'll look in the FSM and see if there is something about it.
In both instances listed for removal and installation, in the last two steps the second to last is to reprogram the transmitters then test the switch movement.
If you don't have that procedure to reprogram I can attempt to reiterate it.
What you have going on, sounds like, until it is reprogrammed to the transmitters it is in a lock out condition preventing any form of start condition.
It would happen a lot in C4's not properly reading the resister would shutdown and lock out the operator.

Is the security light flashing or solid when you try to start is what I think Ryan040675 meant to say? If its flashing, then the chip isn't being read correctly or its the wrong chip. When you first put the key in, it will flash and should go steady on.
