I just looked at the results of some of todays sales at Barrett-Jackson. A 2001 Mag Red 6 speed bone stock with just less then 40k sold for $25,300. That seems high for an 01 stock with 40k miles. I own an 01 that looks like it just came out of the factory, and I know if I tried to sell it I would be lucky to see $20K based on the present regular market. I have always said that the money at Barrett-Jackson is stupid money, that is to say, the people will pay the top dollar (and then some) just to say it came from the Barrett-Jackson auction.

The buyer actually paid more when you figure the $500 registration fee and the 10% fee that B-J charges the buyer.

Too many of them have more dollars than sense!! Add in the factor of "auction fever" and presto overpriced!! B-J has pretty well killed the muscle car/enthusiast car for working class people!!
The lower prices on new Corvettes is also driving down the resale value of used Corvettes, and giving people the opportunity to pick up a C5 or older C6 at bargain prices.
I noticed tha California seems to have the lowest prices out there(Private sellers).
Here in NJ, it seems that the Dealers have more realistic prices than the private sellers.
I could be wrong , but lately that is what I have a freind who resells cars for a living. He is going to see what is at the auctions.............
