Default how to transport

I have purchased a 97 coupe with 26500 miles on it. Tourch red mint condition. Problem is I live in centeral Mich. The car is just north of Detroit. That puts it 150 miles away. With snow and salt all over the roads I refuse to drive it home. I can get a car hauling trailer from my brother-in-law but would rather have it inclosed. Besides I don't know how I would get out of the car if I use the trailer because the door will hit the trailer fender. I don't want to have to crawl out the window. What can I do? I can't find any inclosed car haulers for rent in my area.

I hauled mine with an open trailer similar to one you can rent from U-Haul. I put a couple of 2X8 sections under the front tires so I could open the driver's door and it worked fine. My only other recommendation would be to tape some visquine or a blue tarp to the middle of the trailer if it is open in the middle so snow crud doesn't get all over the bottom of the car.

just hire an enclosed transport to bring it to you....should be pretty cheap at that short of a distance. Also...somebody on the forum in your area or in a local vette club must have an enclosed trailer and be willing to help out.

Maybe if you can find a performance shop in the area they might have one or know someone with a inclosed car trailer. You can then work out a deal for their help maybe.

good luck.

Buy one of those bubble storage bags for a car and haul the car on a trailer (open or closed but preferrably closed). The bubble will protect the car from salt and snow. I would recommend first placing a soft car cover over car before sealing the bubble. The car cover should protect the car from the bubble plastic.

Pick a cold clear day where there's no melting slush and snow, and drive it home. There's plenty of those days this time of the year.

Over that distance I'd drive it and give it a real good clean and get the pressure washer on the undertray when I got back. Plenty to go wrong if you put it in a trailer and far less risk on the road IMHO

not in mich. It's been snowing about every 2 day's, and the state dumps millions of pounds of salt on the roads and they are usally slushy.

When I bought my car it was a blizard out. The car had only seen rain once or twice in its life and I drove it 5 hours home in the blizard. The guy that sold it to me thought I was nuts.

I ran it through the carwash near my house twice when I got into town then drove home at 5mph with the hazards on.

Then I spent the next month under the car with a toothbrush and cleaners making it look showroom new again. It was a lot of work, I had to remove the wheels to get in all the nooks and crannys but when I was finished the underbelly and wheel houses really did look new again.

I would do it differently if I was to do it again. That was a lot of work.

My brother-in-laws car hauler has a complete floor on it so not much snow and salt would get under the car. It looks like I am going to go with that idea. I will still wait for clear dry roads if that is possible in mich.
