What does the TA run in the 1/4 mile? I would think the torque converter would eliminate the advantage of the 3.42 gears. Do you have headers? Drag raduals? If you look at the C5 1/4 list, there are A4 C5s running deep into the 11s with gears, high stall and headers with tuning. I'm guessing that TA to be in the high 12s. roll on run against a 1996 Corvette grand national and started pulling away once I was high in the RPM band. My mods at that time were minimal. Like the LT1, the LT4 ran out of breathe as the RPMs rose. They really make their power right off the line and run out of stink way before they hit the rev limiter.

so i thought the lt4 with hot cam only put like 320 something to the wheels. it will end up being a drivers race in the end and im sure we will try different speeds as well if we dont make it to the track.

i dont have headers yet and im pretty good at launching my car without drag radials. he is just getting this car and was bragging about it before he even drove it. i spent more on mods then he did his car. so i know he wont be used to driving it very well.

My 1996 Formula WS6 put down 343 rwhp and 353 rwtq (SAE) with an LT4 Hot Cam, stock heads, long tube headers, and a tune.

Ran a best of 12.8@112 on street tires (could not hook at all). Also had 3.73 gears, SPEC stage II clutch, and some suspension mods.

This wasn't a full LT4 conversion and I used to hang with Z06's all the time. I imagine with LT4 heads and intake, I would have had no problem beating a Vette with those mods.

I don't know about those specific mods, but if I was going to build a straight line car it would be an F-body. It is WAY easier to make one of those into a 1/4 mile rocket than a Vette. I've seen some F-bodies running 1/4 mile times that would make your head spin with what seem like relatively minor mods (especially the LSX based cars).

You are correct. I've got some BFG DRs and with a good hook up I've gotten as low as 12.07... looking to break into the 11's.
