Any input on any of these choices?? Quality, ease of install, feel of the shifter ( I kinda like the deliberate notchy feel) and of course about the stock shift ****.
I have installed the hurst short throw shifter in my 99 coupe. It does take the stock shifter ****. The feel is pretty good. Much better that stock, removing around 30% of the throw. Springs are a little stiff making it pretty knotchy feeling but very delibrate. I like it a lot. It comes with a couple of sets of springs for your "feel" preference. It also has some adjusable stops to prevent over shifting. Be sure to lock these stops in place with the lock nuts as mine came loose and worked their way down to the point that I could not shift the car.. I was stuck in 4th gear all the way home. Only had to start from a standing start a couple of times but was baaaad for the clutch!!!! Great shifter though!
The MGW is a really nice piece. Bolt action feel. A little stiff at first but it does get easier after a few miles. You can order a 15% or the default is the 30%. I have the 30 and the throws are very short. You can also order either the C6 upper shaft or the C5 upper shaft that will allow you to use either the C6 stock **** or the C5 stock **** which is threaded. I ordered both just in case I want to change ***** at some point. These shifter choices are hard to call , much like exhaust choices, they are really subjective. What feels good to you the next guy might hate. So check em out at a car show and see what you like.Good luck with your purchase.
I agree with got2hav1. What one likes, another may hate.
My choice was to cut down the OE shifter. I took a bit more than an inch off the top of the shifter rod, still have sufficient threads to mount the **** and put her back together. The result was night and day for me. Still maintained the effort of the OE unit without the notchy-ness of some of the aftermarket ones. The cost was nothing and yet the results were what "I" was looking for.

Good Luck and post your choice and results for all of us!
