Anyone else doing a garage makeover this winter?
I've spent many hours in the GarageMahal this month cleaning, rearranging, planning, mounting bkts, etc all the while totally ignoring the C5 I am having just as much fun 'modding' the garage as I do the Vette. The new 4 post lift is a big boost, too.....sometimes I just play with it like a kid raising and lowering it. When the weather warms I will finally get to doing the floor, either tiles or epoxy, then I should be done with it...yea right! Oh, no pics until I finish, sorry...
im sure not many will have the money to. i am actually moving to a bigger place, and cant wait to start over in a fresh garage to hang all my useless crap

Started my revamp last year. Just finished insulating the garage door. Did'nt shoot it because it is taped off for painting. The desk, etc. is a mess 'cause I am working on f'ing taxes. 17 degrees outside, 63 degrees inside and the heater has only been on 4 hours! I know the VetteCave is gawdy but the Silverbullet00 has not complained.
Have fun doing yours!
Hard to see but the floor is vinyl tile, floor prep is everything!

Hey, one man's GAWDy is another man's LAWDy! I see some cool stuff there. Where did you find the cool banners? I am looking for an exploded view of the C5; any idea where to get one?

Can't help with the exploded view except in a small book size picture. The banners came from the suppliers of some of my mods. I just emailed Corsa and Vararam and they hooked me up when I told them I would be displaying their banners at car shows. My tuner, who is not a forum vendor and I know the rules, hooked me up with the Supermaxx banner! Ask and ye shall recieve, beg and you still have a shot!

Just moved to a house with a 28' x 40' (besides the attached two car), that is currently being finished. Raised half the ceiling from 9' to 12' to accomodate lift(s), installed heat & a/c last week, installed drywall ceilings & insulated, and I'm currently waiting for the drywallers to show up and tape/finish the ceiling. As soon as the drywallers are done, I will install flourescent lighting, paint the walls (covered with OSB already), and I plan on epoxy coating the floor. After that I'll put the cabinets & benches in, install the compressor, move in the 4-post lift, and bring in my tool boxes. I plan on being done by late March.
I will be retiring on April 17 after 30 years. That is the first item on my list Actually the only item on my list, the rest are the honey do list items. It will consist of new flooring, fresh paint, all new garage storage cabinets and of course all my Corvette wall decor.
We just moved into a new home we have been building for the last year. I have a nice sizable three stall garage, which will be painted this year followed by the floor. I think I'm going with one of the expoys rather than tiles. I kick myself for not putting in a heater while the house was being built so thats on the list to do after the fact.

Good luck with the project. Be very careful with the epoxy you buy. There is a HUGE difference between the stuff you buy at the home improvement stores and the stuff the pros use in car dealerships, pro shops, etc.
You might want to paint the walls yourself and then hire out the floor work. The prep to the floor, especially since you live in a cold winter climate, is key.

Would like to do some appearance changes to my garage, just haven't found the time to do it so far. Maybe this spring things will slow down. Would like to do something to the garage floor and maybe new paint for the walls.

Soundsl like I have company on this one. If you haven't already researched the Epoxy flooring go to the garagejournal.com and click on the flooring topic....you'll be amazed at the choices and the controversy out there. It's enough to make you stall your decision. Remember, the tile approach is removable...really cool if you move, or you want to give it to your kids later on. I've seen some for about $2/ft sq. that should be fine....but lots of controversy here too.
I got into the Gladiator stuff for parts bins. You can buy a 4' length of slotted wall for $10, and 6 bins for $10. Great for binning your nails, screws, etc. The individual bins remove easily to take to the jobsite...nice. I'll post some pics when I get more accomplished.
Also, overhead lighting is confusing...a lot like our HID vs. all the other car light bulbs we see on the C5. I am going with the smaller T8 fluorescents in 6500 kelvin for the brightest light. There are many fixtures out there that can hold up to 8 bulbs...that should be really bright.
