Optimas are not dry cells, Not gel cells. They are liquid lead-acid in an absorbent glass mat (AGM).

Highest rated, most starting power, longest reserve, and best warranty is the Sears Platinum Diehard.
It is the same as the Odyessy & Stinger and made by Enersys.

JUST be sure TO WIGGLE THE FRONT TABS!!!!!!!!!
If one of them are loose don't buy it..
They had some issues, but when I was at Sears I tested every one on the shelf, like 20, and all were fine
If both are rock solid tight, then its good to go!

My new Die Hard Platnium sat for 35 days, and then spin it over like DAY ONE. It passed MY test -
When my OEM replacement was Brand New (AC Delco) 4 years ago, it struggled to hold a solid charge over 3 weeks sitting.
The Platnium uses VIRGIN LEAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rated #1 - read up on it.
But cost $ 179 - but not much compared to the electronics in your car.

Well, the time has come. I need a new battery. I have done a search and read this post and I am no better for it. It would appear that as in most cases there are many options. I have read many good and not so good posts about the Optima (I am not saying anything about them as never owned one). I only use my car on the weekends. I have not read any negative responses regarding the Walmart/Sears/Interstate brand of batteries. The sears and Interstate cost @ 100.00 plus tax. I currently have an Ac Delco and never an issue except I could not leave my radio on if engine not running.
Can anyone else shed any light on the battery question before I get one? Thanks

When my OEM AC/Delco dies (which is almost 6 years old) I'm going to replace it with another AC/Delco.

I think NAPA batterys are made by Interstate. I've used them in most all of my rigs that required a replacement with very good results. My vette seems to be okay right now but it's got some kind of brand X in it that it came with and it needs to be replaced. It doesn't hold a charge very well and I do keep it on the tender anytime it's parked. I was wondering if anyone has tried an "Odyssey" dry cell battery. I've used them in my Harleys and they're great. They're kinda spendy but they last a long, long time, in a bike.
