I guess there must be something to it, but both a Company Ford Taurus and the current BMW 5-series business car had an alarm at 37* to warn of ice potential. I didn't take them too seriously, but perhaps they're right.
Problem with living in the Midwest (I was in Chicagoland for several years) is that you just get used to it and go on, not thinking about the potential problems. I still like the guys who think their 4WD truck/SUV will keep them out of trouble on ice.
Glad you're okay. I had a similar one in my last Company car, but it was just inattention (looking for an address), rather than ice. At least you had a little bit of an excuse. In the San Francisco area, I sure didn't
Take care of yourself - you can get a little muscle pain even a few days later. Rest and don't kick yourself. The plastic and metal can be fixed, and if you and the other guy are okay, it was a good outcome (as good as could be, anyway).
Bummer,,glad you are OK!! Hope you're back on the road soon!! I agree with Bow Tie,,The 4WD's are usually the first ones you see in the ditch or in the center barrier when there is a little ice or snow..4WD helps you get going,,but it doesn't steer or stop any better!! Hope you are singing ***** Nelson soon,,,,"On the road again"!!!
That's about the $$ amount from my accident last winter...one of the FEW times I've driven the Vette in crappy weather. I hit a concrete retaining wall, during a 360 degree spin, and destroyed both rear quarters and the bumper.

My wifes 330 has that too. Kind of annoying, especially down in ATL. Stupid thing doesn't even switch back to the time when its done warning you.
