Small world. I've been watching many of those vids lately on YouTube and VetteTube. Being a ... cough cough ... gun enthusiast, I was not aware that Jim Scoutten did the car shows back then, since these days he is on a number of firearms shows.

 

Damn, I can't believe how well the Viper performed back in 1998. It's stiill near the top of the list in 2009. It put bus lengths on everything.

 

Dang, that motor trend test on the 1998 was harsh, 0-60 in 6.1 sec and 1/4 in 14.5 at 98 mph. That is terrible. Must have been something wrong with that car.

Very cool post, I have been thinking lately of selling the 99 and maybe getting into a C6Z instead of modding. I dont want to pull the money out of savings due to the state of the economy, and I sure don't want a car payment. This made me "fall in love" with the C5 all over again..thanks for sharing.

Take that back, I missed the one video posted later that featured the stang and the viper. What I find cool is our cars are good enough to be ranked with some of the best, at a better price, and better looking.
