One more time: When you cut to all the bull crap, personal opinions and the wailing and head bashing that this oil is better than that oil, the bottom line is..................... EARL IS EARL!!!
Your Vette will be happy no matter what it is fed. As long as it is kept full and meets the requirements set forth by GM. And folks, they all do. One molecule here and a few ions there really doesn't matter all that much.
HONEST!!!!!!! Can I get an Amen!
Careful-------you're making sense. That's not allowed on oil threads!!!
But I notice when I use Royal Purple (which I been using for a long time) my engine temperature is a good 5-10 degrees lower. Maybe it's me or maybe it's the oil
Don't fret! Judicious use of your right foot will bring those engine temps right back up again!

AMEN!!!I am switching to a different full synthetic this change. I have a friend that bought his 97 GMC Sanoma new,, uses regular oil, changes it every 3 to 4K,, and has OVER 500,000 miles on the original untouched drive train!!! The only major component replaced so far has been the A/C compressor!! He is still driving it on a daily basis,,it still runs perfect. It's just had regular maintenance items!! Mine is running just fine using the OLM and full synthetic!! 66K and counting!!
Well i'm sure there are better oils, but mobil 1 is a great motor oil, why, well i looked up a few facts, it's factory fill for:
Acura RDX
Aston martin & All Cadillac's & Chevy Corvettes and ZO-6
Chrysler 300C SRT-8
Colbalt SS supercharged S/C coupe
Mercedes Benz AMG vehicles & Mercedes SLR
All Porsche vehicles
Mitsubishi Evolution
Pontiac Solstice GXP
Viper SRT-10
Saturn Ion red line and Saturn Sky red line
I wonder if bobtheoilguy.com is aware of this? What i don't understand about people is why would you think Mobil would cut the quality of a superior motor oil that's got dedicated users?
When i was younger(25 yrs ago or so), my uncle had a farm truck that had over 300,000 miles on the engine and he used the oil that my dad and my uncles took out of their trucks and cars when they were done with their oil changes! That truck never blew up! And this was all conventional, cheap *** oil! Think about that for a second....

Geez, what did they pour on the gravel roads to keep the dust down? I thought that practice was the first form of oil recycling!
I have been showing a little more wear (lead) in my oil analysis lately (118,000 miles). I think I'll try this next oil change and then get an oil analysis, see if it works.
Well my C5 says to use Mobil 1 so that's what I have to use.

Let us know how that new oil works out. I'm sure you won't even notice.
That's right!!!
You referring to what's on the oil filler car, right? It does NOT say to use Mobil 1. It says "Factory Filled with Mobil 1". I removed that from my filler cap.
Ever read the owner's manual? No mention to only use Mobile 1 is made. It states that any oil that meets the standars set forth will do.
Who is Bob, and why is Mobil 1 now junk? The GM website doesn't say anything about bad oil and their still filling Vettes with mobil 1? People here have logged over 150K miles using Mobil 1 and their engines seem to be fine?
But that was using the older formulas of Mobil 1. People most likely won't have as good luck using the newest formula, which isn't as good. Oil analysis results have shown much higher levels of iron, indicating higher valvetrain wear than before.
