Default My solution to needing a front plate.

Well i got pulled yesterday for not have a front plate. Eh. It happens, doesnt really bother me that much. The Statie said all i had to do was put the plate on and take a picture to court and it would get dropped...so...

I didnt really want to remove the corvette lettered cover off the front so i went scrounging around the garage and found some scrap aluminum, some factory GM hardware off my old C4, and some left over weather stripping and made my own interpretation of the Show-n-Go...it slides in just above the foglight bezel and i have a hole drilled in the end and zip-tied it to the zip-tie on the filter mod.

Pretty simple and can be removed in seconds by snipping the tie for a show or a track outing.

Are those sharp edges behind the plate going to damage your bumper?

The ends of the screws are inside the opening in the bumper and the weather strip holds the plate off the bumper enough to where the aluminum is safely away from the paint.

Oh okay. Nice mockup there. And will save you some money and keep you legal.

I'm a fan of anything DIY/saving money, but I don't know how anyone thinks something like this or the show n go looks better than putting the plate where it belongs.
Yes, I would prefer to run without one.
The other two that look "reasonably" well, are either the painted bubble mod, or painting the U shaped piece that holds the plate on.

So glad we don't have to put front plates on our cars here. It make the front look so ugly I think it
would look better where it belongs, in the center.

This is what you should do, remove your original plate cover and crazy glue 4 or more small magnets (1 on each corner) behind the cover. install magnet strips (if needed) behind your licence plate on stick it on the cover.
Bend the plate to form the cover, add as many magnet as your want.
Now for your peace of mind, you can test it by using a high speed leaf blower (150-200 mph wind) to see if it stays on. This way you can carry the plate in the car and snap it on when or if you get pulled over.

Ps: Maybe also a safety string clip to 1 corner of the plate in case you hit something or somebacks into you.

Honestly I like the front plate on when you get the OEM trim piece color matched. Looks well integrated and you're 100% legal.

I agree with silverbullit...it looks out of place. Just put it in the center...you can buy some nice frames...body colour...

Wouldn't it be easier to just move to a state that does not require a front plate?

and, where radar detectors are legal.

More fun less hassle!

I'd just put it where it goes, take a picture then take it off.

That's what I did..........although I did have to pay body shop $60 to sand the U frame smooth, and paint it, but it does look great.

The C6 guys / gals are the ones who have a real front plate display problem..........the OEM just looks bad, like the General forgot about it until the car was built
