I've got an '02 z06 with 41k. If I step on the brake or put the turn signal on, etc, the voltage displayed on the DIC will quickly drop from ~14.5v to ~13.5v. The headlights/dashlights will dim for a second, then go back to normal. I think my battery is the original; would a bad battery cause this kind of problem, or would it be more of a alternator or ground issue? I'd appreciate any suggestions.
If your battery is the original from '02, then you're due for a new one. If you want to make check with your local auto parts store or, your mechanic and see if they have a battery load tester and check it out. All cars will experience a little quick drop off in voltage when you add more load to the system but, if you possibly have a 7 year old battery, I'd start with that. Good luck.

I had the exact symptoms a month ago. I ended going to advance auto to diagnose the battery and they deemed it need to be replaced. All is good since the new battery and more responsive. Just remember to have the radio code handy after the batt. replacement. If you don't have it there is a way to retrieve it. Do a search on radio code and the procedure will be outlined. Good luck.
And when you buy a battery, get more battery (cranking amps etc.) than the car calls for, it gives you a longer lasting better battery for a few bucks more.
