First of all - the Z06 is a C5. The way you can tell the difference in body styles is by the roof.
The Z06 and it's predecessor the Fixed Roof Coupe have a notchback rear window and no removeable roof. The fixed roof body style also has a trunk. Here's a copy of the press release announcing the Z06 back in '01.

The Coupe has a slanting back window which serves as access to the cargo area, and has a removable roof panel.
Convertible - well, what can I say....the top goes down!

The C5Z06 is a fixed roof coupe with a trunk and brake cooler vents and side badging and different wheels
The Base C5 has no brake vents, a large glass hatchback, no badging and different wheels and tires.
There are MANY other differences and surely others will chime in.
Just look out for base C5s that have asetheic modifications that mimic a Z06. The glass hatchback is a dead giveaway that it is not a Z06.
