2001 z06 question`
I saw a really nice 2001 z06 for sale,
The guy says it doesnt have any of the oil consumtion issues that they are sometimes known for.
How do I make sure?Is there a way to have this checked out?

Hi There:
Before you drive it wipe down the exhaust tips.Take it for about a 5 mile cruise. After your drive look & see if their are carbon spots(black) on the chrome tips. Also the rear end will be covered with black soot, so have a rag in your pocket.Thats a pretty good indication its a oil burner. Another way is to have a pro due a compression test.

Thanks for the quick response.
The rag idea is a good one.I thought about having a compression test done but the car is a few hundred miles away.........I dont know if I will be able to get a local shop in the area to do it..........

Hi There:
Your welcome.Keep us posted on what you find. Look in the glove box or the center console & read through the owners manual & any papers looking for the owners name. Lots of times the owners name is in there some where. Keep it to your self if you find it.Then contact the owner. Most will be happy to tell you about he car but, not all of them.
