Here is an Anoithor example of the Parrasite Drag on the Fendor of the Anaversary Monicor.

Sorry I went against the proper Forum Vettetiquette in calling out a few possible incorrectly spelled words here. Just wanted to give these Forum Freinds a photographic representatation of what causes their idea of a lack of performance.
Again, I apologize, not intended to be mean spirited.
Now please Aero Engineer thinkers, step away from the bong.

[QUOTE=ljthe2nd;1569023996]Parasitic drag on an emblem? Are you going for a land speed record. I think this conversation must have come while imbibing in a controlled substance. Perhaps you guys should've had a beer instead.

I agree! Did a MPG increase also come up in your conversation.
How about removing the windshield wipers as the may create drag. Don't bogart that joint my friend.

I'd be very surprised if anyone did since there were a LOT of hours spent in the wind tunnel to get the low drag from the stock mirrors. They are very efficient.

I think most folks are missing the OP's point. He's asking about the APPEARANCE of drag, i.e. does it appear a bit like purposeless bling? Personally, I think what Chevy/GM sticks on the car is fine, but badges DO have the APPEARANCE of drag, are basically bling, and I would not add them anywhere. But that's just me; who cares? As to Corvette "ettiquite," I think he's just having fun looking for majority opinion (and we are opinionated more than a little bit.)

OP might have just done better with a poll: Fender badges? halo badges? no badges? I think most folks would vote "no badges" and OP would have his answer without the cr*p...

Greetings; The etiquette part was not the parasite drag. It had to do with the placement of a nice looking badge like the 50 flags, on a non-anaversary edition 2003.

Thank you for the excellent insight of clarification. I have over the years owned two vette models, but am fairly new to blogging/threading.

I am now slightly embarresed that I included the parrasight drag issue as it was intended to explane the origins of the intended queston of vettetiquite that i hoped to obtain opinion.

As you picked up on, the original thought was that a badge, such as the 50 flags fendor badge, was put there to designate the car's edition, and was not placed on all 2003 cars. Even though the 50 anaversary badges on the front and rear deck , and on the insturment faces, was included on 2003 vettes. As does my black 2003 coupe.

As it turns out, in regarding vetetiquite there does not seem to be any opinion against placing a badge on a car that would not of had the badge as it rolled out of bowling green.

I do beleive that even fendor badges can give the appearence of parrasight drag. Although really a non aero issue.

The car's body is sleek and aero looking as is.

However, the badges do provide individuality and speciality to the car.

So in retrospect, I offer this poll question;
Is it a breach of vettetiquette to place a vette specialty badge, like to 50 flags, on a 2003 vette non anaverasary edition?

And is it, a breach to move the locatoin of a fedor badge and place it some where else on the body?

So would you find it a breach of vettetiquite to find that fendor badge in your photo on a non anaversary edition vette?

You need to put the bong down and find a spell checker.

However my badges came with enough extra horsepower to offset the drag.
