A few freinds were talking about aerodynamics and the C5. A question was posed that if a car like the C5 had a fendor badge, does it give the impression of parrasite drag?
Someone then suggested that it was acceptable to move the fendor badge say on a coupe to the painted side area between the entry door's window and the back hatch glass.
Another suggested that the fendor badge should only be located in aniother spot if say a 2003 wanted to display the 50th flags but the car was not an anaversary edition car. Even though the anaversary monicor was originally installed on the front and back hatch.
Parasitic drag on an emblem? Are you going for a land speed record. I think this conversation must have come while imbibing in a controlled substance. Perhaps you guys should've had a beer instead.

I think this is more of a personal choice then anything - some people like badges, others don't. Some like them on the fenders, others like them on the halo, and I'm sure there are even others that get more creative.
As for drag I would not worry that at normal speeds - you'll have to get going pretty fast for it to have any decernable impact.
I say go with what you like - you'll always hear people express their opinions, do what makes you happy.

To expand on the parasite drag thought, it came from aero engineer types that were reflecting on the immence effort the C5 engineers took to bring the drag co-efficient number down during original C5 design (ref. the book All Corvettes are Red).
Agreed! the drag for a badge is a non issue.
The un-resolved thought from the engineer's conversation was more in line with the possible breach of etiquitte by the placement of an attractive production badge, like the 50th flags, on a CAR, like a 2003 coupe, that it would not really belong. Even if in a locacion different from the desinged fender placement.

Why even worry about it - if you want an emblem or badge on the car, just stick it on. In the overall scheme of things, it is not going to affect the aerodynamics enough to be noticable.
REALLY,,,I think there would be as much or a performance loss from the extra weight as there would be from aerodynamic drag!! By the way,,,just what does aero drag have to do with Corvette etiquette????
